I don’t see any thread on the World Cup…. Looks like there were quite a few draws so far, and none of them were more surprising than Cape Verde tying Spain!! 😲 Looking at shots at goal, Cape Verde had just one versus eight for Spain, but none of them went past the goalkeepers, so it’s a 0 - 0 tie, and a major disappointment for Spain.

The style of the European teams have changed and they just don’t play like they used to. Germany for example, they used to be slow and steady on offense, high in stamina with an iron defense that would eventually wear their opponents down but now they don’t seem to stand out. The Netherlands on the other hand, they focused on a forward-heavy offense, reinforcing their strikers with continual passes and great setups but these days they don’t seem to have any blazes of glory.

Sparkchaser Baseball just keeps on playing. The 11-inning World Series 2025 game 7 in Toronto was a transit fiasco. The 18-inning game 3 in Los Angeles was also a transit fiasco in Toronto, for fans attending watch parties in downtown Toronto. For very pragmatic reasons, games cannot be marathons.

At least in hockey penalty shots are a 50/50 success rate. I think the success rate of penalty kicks is 95% All the goalie can do is guess. Is that fair?

Norway handle Ivory Coast 2-1
France lead Sweden 1-0 at half, and Sweden’s lucky it’s not worse…France had one negated by offside, hit 2 shots wide, 2 off the post including a beautiful bicycle kick which wouldve been goal of the tournament had it gone in!
Sweden had chances of their own, they’re scrappy, I’ll give ‘em that.

Scoring twice in the last 5 minutes of regulation, and then winning on a controversial penalty in OT. 😲

Last I checked it was only 1-0, and depending on the teams, having only 10 men may not be that much of a disadvantage. Once you get down to 8 or 9, that’s when the advantage can become really significant.

Heat84 I only saw the first half; missed Balogun’s red. NOT looking forward to facing Belgium without our top scorer, but it is what it is. I’m confident Pochettino will have the guys ready.
