Markus1 I remember the early days of CTE and U.S. football. Similar things were said.
But back then, we didn’t have all the relevant knowledge and ways to detect CTE. Today we have, and the equivalent measurements show that soccer has a lot less CTE.
Markus1 There no reason not to have better protectiin for soccer players.
Since “heading” is an important play in soccer, protection devices are likely to interfere with that.
Markus1 One CTE brain injury is too many.
LOL. The fallacy of appeal to emotion. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Appeal_to_emotion
Pretty much every physical activity and contact sports involve some risks, and one important thing is the likelihood of injuries. CTE was detected in over 90% in previous American football players’ brain while that wasn’t the case with soccer.
If we take concussion as a proxy, concussion is about 10 times more common in American football than in soccer, and it most often involve normal play (tackling) in American football vs. unintentional accidents in soccer.
