bjlockie Why doesn’t Skoda sell in Canada?
No definitive answers - but they don’t sell anywhere in North America. Their website has only Chile, Columbia, Ecuador, Guadeloupe and Martinique for all of the Americas – so nothing in Brazil, Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay, Uruguay, Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, Cuba, etc - as well as the obvious US and Canada – they have coverage through pretty much every country in Europe and Asia - but again only a small handful of African countries. My guess - they have done the cost benefit analysis for moving into our markets and currently don’t see the ability to build out a service/dealer infrastructure, update vehicles to meet our transportation safety requirements, and be able to sell their products at a competitive price with that overhead. They are part of the VW group so they might also see introducing their products here as likely to cannibalize VW sales as well
So - here we sit with no Skoda, no Tata, no Citroen, no Peugeot, no Opel, etc… tons of brands from various major companies we just can’t get our hands on. Not to mention BYD, SAIC, and Chery from China…
