Users report that version 25.8.4 works correctly after removing the “lock-files”.

I dunno–not running any Linux distros although I probably should. I’m no Microsoft hack by any stretch of the imagination but my Windows setup goes back so far that the task of recreating everything or even the necessary part would probably take longer than I have left on the planet! LibreOffice or OnlyOffice are both good products, so I’d think you’d get what you need, but of course the only way to be sure is to try it. You can let us know after you do.

I’ve been an Ubuntu user since about 2010 or 2012. LibreOffice has been part of the distro and gets updated the same as the rest of the installation. A benefit to this is that any updated packages have passed at least some compatibility testing. I may not have the bleeding edge version but I also haven’t had any unpleasant surprises that I can recall.

Update: Now back to v26.8.0 with a notice of the new version download problem. v26.2.6, released 9/04/26, downloads, albeit a bit slow, which from time to time is not that unusual for them.

I wonder when, if ever, v26.8.1 will be available. The only improvement I’ve seen today is that the mirror and torrent links that weren’t even working yesterday or this morning now work, but they are all for v26.8.0. I swear that they released this new version–see LibreOffice 26.8.1 improves compatibility and text import. Does anyone believe me?

Update: due to issues with download mirrors, the release is being delayed. Version 26.8.0 is once again offered on the download page of the LibreOffice website. Apologies for the inconvenience – you can check this page or this page to see when the download mirrors are working again.

What you got easily is the prior version from back in August, v26.8.0, not the new one, v26.8.1, released yesterday, 10/2/26, that is still not available and had the download issue. After all those download issues they just put the old version back up in the meantime while they try to solve the new version download failures.

takeahike What is the difference between 26.8.0 and 26.2.6? They both say Windows x86-64. I’m currently on v26.2.6.3 and check for updates says I’m current.
