We are still continuing down the path of router, firewall, and Packet Sniffer.
Hardware is “Not Worthy” of W11, per Microsoft.
On our W7-64 Systems it was hardware and Software that would not upgrade to 10.. $$$$ to upgrade. Software & Hardware worked fine under W7-64.
At that time we chose the Router/Firewall/PacketSniffer approach.
That has been in place prior to W7 going EOL, and it seems to work for our W7-64 systems!
Now we have same decision on our W10 Pro System:
So if Microsoft Turns their W11 back on us, regarding W10 PRO computer that is not slow or unable to do work…. We in turn must make a decision on what to do, with our W10 PRO system!
Router still gets firmware security updates. Router has 5 system databases that update every few days. Packet Sniffer gets updates every day or so. We can tighten the reaction to events we see if we want, and have. Router Firewall and Firewalls on other devices allow us to create 3 groups of IP’s within our LAN:
Those IP’s with Internet and NAS access.
Those IP’s with Internet only Access (DHCP included). No NAS Access.
Those IP’s with NO Internet or NAS Access.
And other unique firewall access or isolation groups.
And router/firewall/Packet Sniffer protects everything on LAN. Including other devices that use other OS’s.
You make your decisions on what to do with the resources you have…..
