MLB

Less than 10 games left in the MLB, so playoff will be starting soon. Start with the NL since they are much more settled. Philadelphia (92 wins) already won its division, so they’re playing for seeding. Milwaukee (94 wins) will probably win the division since it has a 6 games lead over the Cubs, and if that happens it can’t be worse than 2nd seed. Dodgers have a 4 games lead over the Padres, so they could win the division. As for the wildcard: Either Cincinatti or Arizona could catch the Mets, but I don’t expect any major change elsewhere. Unlike the NL, the AL is still very close and unsettled, though most of that is about seeding since there are 7 - 8 teams are fighting for 6 spots, home court, and the chance of a 1st week bye. Toronto has a 3 game lead over the Yankees, and 5 over the Red Sox. Not much of a lead, but it may be enough. In Central, Detroit is falling fast and nursing a 3 game lead over Cleveland. Given the current trend, Cleveland has a chance to overtake them. In the Wild West, Texas is quickly fading, so it’s either the Seattle Mariners or the Houston Astros, but it’s too close to call right now – maybe in 2 days, Of the outside looking in teams, Cleveland has some chance, but Texas is on the ropes, and it’s not likely to make it unless one or two teams completely collapse.

takeahike Apparently there aren’t any Dodger fans here besides me and you. Is everyone here from north of the border?

1) Canada deserves a break, with the stuff that’s been thrown at them, which cannot be talked about here.

2) This is the anniversary of when the Dodgers skipped out of Brooklyn. Specifically, October 8, 1957 is when the announcement was made that they would be moving to Los Angeles. Maybe when it reaches 100 years the bad karma will wear off.

A lot of younger folks probably don’t know the name origin.

The name is a shortened form of one of their former names, the Brooklyn Trolley Dodgers. “Trolley dodgers” is a nickname for Brooklyn residents who avoided the city’s fast-moving trolleys.

GoRaptors GAME 6 ON FRIDAY IN TORONTO!

Get the horse ready for George!

George Springer said he would ride a horse down Bremner Blvd. in front the the Rogers Centre (Skydome) if the Jays won the ALDS. TPS responded that if the Jays won the World Series, they would provide the horse. The Toronto Police Mounted Unit have a horse named Blue Jay.

GeekGirl1 I wonder if the Dodgers have booked their flight to Cancun?

Anybody notice? World Series 2025: Dodgers become first repeat champions in 25 years behind Will Smith’s 11th-inning homer

Once down to their last two outs of the series against the Toronto Blue Jays, the Dodgers rode a game-tying home run in the ninth inning from Miguel Rojas and a game-winning home run from Will Smith in the 11th to become MLB’s first back-to-back champions since the New York Yankees in 1999-2000. Meanwhile, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, pitching on zero days’ rest after his 96-pitch start in Game 6, threw 2⅔ scoreless innings, sewing up World Series MVP honors with an old-school ace performance.

takeahike Anybody notice?

Apparently just me among the non-Canadians. I was posting in the Blue Jays thread in the Canadian section.

InternetJeff

Awesome Series. Yamamoto’s performance was historic.

Dks01

takeahike Yamamoto was run off the mound by Bichette’s homer scoring multiple runs. And it took more than two more innings after Rojas’ homer to win the game.
