MLB

Less than 10 games left in the MLB, so playoff will be starting soon. Start with the NL since they are much more settled. Philadelphia (92 wins) already won its division, so they’re playing for seeding. Milwaukee (94 wins) will probably win the division since it has a 6 games lead over the Cubs, and if that happens it can’t be worse than 2nd seed. Dodgers have a 4 games lead over the Padres, so they could win the division. As for the wildcard: Either Cincinatti or Arizona could catch the Mets, but I don’t expect any major change elsewhere. Unlike the NL, the AL is still very close and unsettled, though most of that is about seeding since there are 7 - 8 teams are fighting for 6 spots, home court, and the chance of a 1st week bye. Toronto has a 3 game lead over the Yankees, and 5 over the Red Sox. Not much of a lead, but it may be enough. In Central, Detroit is falling fast and nursing a 3 game lead over Cleveland. Given the current trend, Cleveland has a chance to overtake them. In the Wild West, Texas is quickly fading, so it’s either the Seattle Mariners or the Houston Astros, but it’s too close to call right now – maybe in 2 days, Of the outside looking in teams, Cleveland has some chance, but Texas is on the ropes, and it’s not likely to make it unless one or two teams completely collapse.

Dks01 Yamamoto was run off the mound by Bichette’s homer scoring multiple runs.

It was Ohtani who was pitching then.

InternetJeff Awesome Series. Yamamoto’s performance

He’s the baseball version of Ivan Drago from Rocky 4.

Dks01

Heat84 My point was Yamamoto did not last.

Heat84

Dks01 My point was Yamamoto

It was Ohtani who only lasted 2.1 or .2 innings and gave up the 3 run home run. Yamamoto pitched at the end of the game.

Pope Leo says “no comment” when asked whether the Chicago White Sox comeback to a wild card spot this year after three straight seasons of over 100 loses, including a record 121 in 2024, is due to divine intervention.

timcuth

It is completely stupid that the division-winning Braves have to play a Wild Card round.

ZZZZZZZ

Bryce Harper just missplayed an easy pop fly and it will probably cost them the series.😉

ZZZZZZZ

And then him and schwarber go back to back in the 8th to tie the game up.

ZZZZZZZ

Phillies win in 10.
Astros are done .👍😉

ZZZZZZZ

Boston didn’t last long.

ZZZZZZZ

Cubs are out too

GeekGirl1

Is it too much to ask my Phillies for both the offense and defense to show up in the same game? 8 PM Eastern start.

ZZZZZZZ

Never been a big Harper fan I always thought he was a bit of a hot dog but when he came out of the dugout and started shaking hands with the Venezuela players during the WBC finals he changed my thinking a bit…
Specially being the only American player to do it. 👍

Beachie

Anxiously waiting here for Saturday when my Rays host the Yankees for game one of the ALDS Series.

Phillies are gone…..I feel for Mattingly.😯

GeekGirl1 So do I. 🤬 With that emoji, I’m not sure what your feeling. 😕 but I have an idea.

GeekGirl1

Sparkchaser The emoji means “Why on earth did Mattingly start Nola?” In the last few games. runs were scored on him in the first few innings. This one was no exception.

GeekGirl1 Why on earth did Mattingly start Nola

Yep. Wondering if he’ll be back.

Was at the Doc yesterday. A young sports fan as oppose to me an OLD fan that remembers going to see Steve Carlton, who was only a year older than me.😏 Anyway, he was much more optimistic than I was about the game.

ZZZZZZZ

Brewers win a barn burner in the bottom of the 9th…lead the Padres 2-0 going to San Diego.👍🥎
