Less than 10 games left in the MLB, so playoff will be starting soon. Start with the NL since they are much more settled. Philadelphia (92 wins) already won its division, so they’re playing for seeding. Milwaukee (94 wins) will probably win the division since it has a 6 games lead over the Cubs, and if that happens it can’t be worse than 2nd seed. Dodgers have a 4 games lead over the Padres, so they could win the division. As for the wildcard: Either Cincinatti or Arizona could catch the Mets, but I don’t expect any major change elsewhere. Unlike the NL, the AL is still very close and unsettled, though most of that is about seeding since there are 7 - 8 teams are fighting for 6 spots, home court, and the chance of a 1st week bye. Toronto has a 3 game lead over the Yankees, and 5 over the Red Sox. Not much of a lead, but it may be enough. In Central, Detroit is falling fast and nursing a 3 game lead over Cleveland. Given the current trend, Cleveland has a chance to overtake them. In the Wild West, Texas is quickly fading, so it’s either the Seattle Mariners or the Houston Astros, but it’s too close to call right now – maybe in 2 days, Of the outside looking in teams, Cleveland has some chance, but Texas is on the ropes, and it’s not likely to make it unless one or two teams completely collapse.

GeekGirl1 I’ve never seen a player intentionally jump into the path of a ball thrown towards him. That happened early on in last night’s game. The runner at first was called out due to player interference.

It didn’t look intentional. It looked like an involuntary reaction to a baseball being thrown towards him. But you’d think a baseball player would be used to that. You also would’ve thought he knew exactly what was gonna happen and he shouldn’t have been caught by surprise. It was your basic double play. But the reaction on his face indicates that he was caught by surprise.

Yes, he is. I’m hoping the Jays can continue their momentum tonight. I got a bit concerned when the Dodgers started a comeback late in the game. Any run scored is a chink in the Jay’s armor.

I should also mention that the starting pitcher Yesavage grew up in the Philly area. My local news covered that aspect.

You’re a Packers fan no doubt? I was when I was in my teens, watching them win those first two Super Bowls, but I’ve really waned away from being interested in or watching football much because it is hard to watch so many serious injuries taking place before your eyes. But my attitude I’m sure is the exception. I have a very good friend that I still keep in touch with who originally knew from NYC back in the 1970s where football really isn’t as big as it is in the rest of the country, and he moved to Columbus, Ohio over 40 years ago and has lived there ever since. When I tell him my attitude about football, he just tells me that I just wouldn’t understand the passion for it that exists there for OSU Buckeyes, etc.
