takeahike My friend who was a motorcycle enthusiast and had two Harleys sold them and quit riding because he feared he would not survive if he kept riding with drivers constantly talking and especially texting while driving.
I had a nice restored 750 Honda, but I gave up riding any bikes after a puppy mother driving while texting ran a stop sign and nailed the rear of my bike, I wasn’t going very fast but was still tossed off the bike and ground up a bit.
Someone called PD and EMS, I could hear them heading our way so I asked if I could use her phone to call my GF to come and pick me up, she apologized for hitting me and handed me the phone, big mistake, I tossed it as hard as I could breaking it into many smaller pieces which I picked up and handed back to her, then I called her a stupid “puppy mother” which she also disliked.
She complained to the officer that I smashed her phone, I explained I accidentally dropped it and would pay for a replacement if required.
The officer looked at me like yea you accidentally dropped it, sure, but he did nothing about it other than advising the “lady” it was a civil matter and there was nothing he could do about it.
Her insurance company refused to make a fair settlement over the totaled bike and my injuries, they counter offered enough to buy a 4 pack of cheap beer and a bag of chips.
I retained a attorney and a couple of years later they settled out of court for way more than I was seeking and they had to pay my attorney fees on top of that.
What a corrupt way to do business.
