Comcast Migrating Email to Yahoo Mail

Most of us in this forum probably do not use ISP provided email, but if you know someone who does like grandparents or you use it as a secondary account, Comcast will require you to migrate to Yahoo Mail. You will basically become a Yahoo email customer, but you keep your existing Comcast.net email address. I’m curious what was or is the storage limit for Comcast mail? Wasn’t it only like 5 or 10 GBs? I just got an email from my main Yahoo acct saying they’re upping the limit to the “industry-leading” 20 GB.

Jbob Mine shows 10GB. Click on the gear icon in the upper right corner of the web mail page to check your storage limit and usage.

Honestly all I can say is that to ERR is Human not Computer. So last night I switched everything over and not thinking about it all was fine until mid morning and I had no email in Outlook on my laptop and phone. What a royal pain in the rear end as you have to reset everything initially as a Yahoo.com then go and change it to comcast.net. The laptop was way easier than my phone which is android running outlook 365.

So tonight I tried it again tonight and everything just went through and I set up my yahoo email.

When I logon too my email via the webpage it has a link to go to yahoo.com to setup my email box. Sadly the links take you to a logon page on yahoo that goes nowhere.

kmax I have had a yahoo account for 24 years and the spam filtering is way better. It also comes with features like Norton to scan incoming emails and Nord VPN for emails. If you go into setting there is a ton of crap I also turned off like adds.

Yes, but I’ve always had my Comcast email set to forward to my gmail account which does it even better. Not sure if that will be possible after the switch.

lesmikesell You can get email forwarding with Yahoo Plus which is $5.00 a month or subscribe to “Access + Forwarding: Preserve your Yahoo mailbox and email forwarding” for $12.00 a year.

At this point the only thing going to my comcast address is from xfinity and peacock and I’m not going to pay to forward those. I’ll probably add the account to outlook that already has some other rarely-used accounts. Mostly I use gmail with the web interface or iphone app.

lesmikesell Xfinity communications can be changed and sent to your personal email. Peacock probably as well. So that is an option unless you have other reasons.

Comcast has no issues with delivering emails from their email servers to my Gmail address. Heck, for the advertisement emails (Xfinity Mobile, etc.) they sometimes get sent to me 2 or 3 times in a row lol. Same email but sent multiple times and at the same time or within a few minutes of each other. Not sure why.

My Gmail account has been my Comcast contact email for years now. Just about the only thing going to my Comcast email is spam (their filtering is terrible) and the occasional email from someone who hasn’t contacted me in a very long time.

When it’s time to transfer to Yahoo, I will simply delete that Comcast account.

I have an Update!! If you use the New Outlook you are out of luck as it will not talk to Yahoo Mail. If you use Outlook classic as I switched back to it would download my IMAP folders but sadly no matter if I was in Outlook Classic or on Yahoo no matter how I changed the folders nothing would sync. But if you set up Mozilla ThunderBird and Probably other Email Clients it works and you can organize folders etc. for some reason Outlook and Yahoo will not play nice together 🙁

Huh? I have outlook on a PC, iphone, and Mac all talking to Yahoo Mail. Do you have some weird folder arrangement?

lesmikesell It works on my phone fine. Sadly I switched to new outlook a while ago and then when I migrated to the Yahoo Servers everything went south and I had to use thunderbird. I chatted with Microsoft support two days ago and they remoted into my computer. After watching them try everything I had tried and 45 minutes later Microsoft Support told me to try setting my email up in 24hrs!! So I figured it was a compatibility problem as everything that does not work in outlook is just fine in Thunder bird.

Aceq2jot Mine has worked from the beginning when Microsoft switched it’s Mail app to Outlook. The only quirk is that it won’t show a merged inbox when you have more than one account (I have a hotmail account too). Neither of these accounts have much traffic though. Mostly I use Gmail with the web interface on computers and its own app on my phone. Must be something odd about your account or folder layout or sizes though. If it didn’t work in general, Microsoft support would have known that and told you.
