Comcast Migrating Email to Yahoo Mail

Most of us in this forum probably do not use ISP provided email, but if you know someone who does like grandparents or you use it as a secondary account, Comcast will require you to migrate to Yahoo Mail. You will basically become a Yahoo email customer, but you keep your existing Comcast.net email address. No, all the Comcast email addresses will stay as xxxxxx@comcast.net ones even though they are served by Yahoo Mail.

The only thing it may be is that Comcast says it will be a “phased migration.”

The announcement, detailed in an email sent to customers on August 2, 2025, outlines a phased migration set to occur over the next several months ….

as with telcodad, I’ve had AT&T e-mail since AT&T Worldnet dial-up internet. I’m on Verizon, but I kept the AT&T mail through DSL and Verizon FIOS. I really have had no issues. I can login thru the web portal and go directly to e-mail… bypassing all of the Yahoo stuff. From there, I can edit/delete spam and such. I leave mail on the server. I still use Eudora POP3 e-mail. Works like a charm, and thru Eudora, the files are saved on my computer and deleted from the server. I never trusted gmail or outlook and the like…

I got the “Changes are coming” email on 8/1 but nothing yet to start the migration. Also, it’s plastered all across the top of my Xfinity.com page

Nothing about it for me. My Comcast Email pretty much sits empty, since I don’t use it. My Gmail account has always been set as the preferred Email and Comcast account communications. So I don’t think the Email migration is going change how my Email is handled. I have noticed this new prompt screen when logging into my account on Xfinity’s webpage. It use to just automatically send the code to my mobile phone. I don’t know if this new prompt page has anything to do with them doing away with the in house Comcast Email?

Guess I should have mentioned that I have Gmail as my preferred email account as well and I got the information in both Gmail and Xfinity accounts. I sure hope that we can continue using Gmail as the Preferred.

I had an old PacBell account which switched to Yahoo years ago. It still uses my xxxxxxxx@pacbell.net email address although now I access it via the yahoo web site. Fortunately, I have very little email going there. I keep it just for old times sake!

Actually, the Yahoo filters are pretty good. I rarely see any spam via my ATT account in my Inbox. If anything, there is the occasional false detection that throws mail into the spam folder. Supposedly, if you create an address book entry on the Yahoo online email for that address, it should bypass the spam filters.

I did get the email telling me about the change, my 4 addresses I have (only 1 is really active), and that I will probably be getting the official changeover within 30 days.

Kitsap I am in the Chicago area. I’m not certain if they are doing it by area, or just semi-random. I checked my (deceased) father’s email (also in the same area), and nothing there yet.

Andyross Thanks, I am trying to get a grasp of when and where. I have computer dependent friends and family that have Comcast in various areas of the country.
