Anyone have a copy of the DSLR (or otherwise) list of HighSplit locations and phasing? Bonus if it also has the status's of each.

MacLeech If am not mistaken they aren’t activating the OFDMA channels immediately when they do the equipment upgrades. Upgrade equipment-> turn on OFDMA channels -> test capacity and mitigate noise -> offer new speeds to customers. This takes multiple months to complete but the OFDMA channels aren’t live when the node and amps are swapped. I believe it is a 2-3 month period from when OFDMA goes live until new speeds are offered.

Not_Sure The areas pushed I can only guess is motivated by places that have real competition at first. Now it sounds like there is a lack of equipment problem.

Jaybonaut Might be mostly the fact the software for the DAA nodes aren’t up Charter’s specifications yet.

They may have had issues in sourcing equipment over the last couple of years they sourced 4 different vendors for North Texas. The Motorola/Arris GI style gear had a mix of Arris, ACI, and Broadband international housings installed as it seems they weren’t able to get enough Arris style housings from Commscope. They split the metro in half equipment wise half got GI style drop ins while the rest got Technetix.

Jaybonaut TEC fiber is literally starting to do work in my town as we speak and I have Verizon’s 5G home available here. The overwhelming majority of cell phone users are on Verizon here so they get the benefit of a discount on 5G home. So they are waiting until half the customers leave?

Jaybonaut I really can’t tell a difference. My city went from having Arris/Motorola amps to using technetix. Reliability is about the same. The main difference is the housing sizes are larger than the previous MB and BLE amps.

ACI and Broadband International make after market third party offerings of amplifiers that are just as reliable as OEM manufacturers.

Jaybonaut Well if customers have other options then they will leave. By then it will be kind of late to get them back. first rule of business. It’s easier to retain an existing customer to than get a new one. Since the start of the month TEC is running lines all over my town. Odds are they’ll be done before Charter get hi-split here or even starts

There are two towns over in walking distance that is getting 10gig fiber in the next year. It really is amazing how a fiber build out can be from nothing to 10gig in 1 year while charter isn’t even offering other than 1gig/40 and won’t be done high split here till 2027. How is that possible? Spectrum is slow…

The towns businesses even state it’s welcome that they have competition to Spectrum. 10gig within a year and spectrum is going from 1gig to 2gig in 3 years. Lol what a joke. But the users from the dslreports know the drill with Charter. We’ve been kicking the same can since 1999. I know I have.

jarablue You don’t have to worry about active customers when first building a network. They’re building out to a fraction of homes passed vs what Charter already services.

Charter has to keep 30 million customers (from 60 million homes passed) working while it upgrades the network.

I doubt the two towns will have 10gb active to all 9000 households they plan to pass with the fiber network in a year especially since they just started breaking ground. Build-outs often take 2-3 times longer (or more) than initial press releases state.

BTW, what speeds did you have in 1999? maybe 3m/256k if you had a cable modem? 53k/33k if you had dial-up.

jarablue likely will see 5 or 10Gig download with Spectrum. They are almost done with the markets that will cap at 2gig. I suspect later down the line phase 1 areas will have the work done to increase the download to 5Gig.
