Anyone have a copy of the DSLR (or otherwise) list of HighSplit locations and phasing? Bonus if it also has the status's of each.

Not_Sure by Q1 of 2025 I’m saying what reps told me for a completion date for my area. Now it’s radio silence. If I did the same thing in my job (which is IT for a small company), I’d lose it in a heartbeat.

Reps have ZERO knowledge on the completion and rollout for high split for a specific area or region. That knowledge lies on the local techs, and you cannot just cold call them or get with them directly to follow up with such inquiry.

They seem to be farther along in North Texas than I thought. I was in Waxahachie this evening and noticed brand new Technetix amplifiers which weren’t there the first weekend of March which at the time there were still CCOR style amplifiers on the lines.

terabitz sorry, should have said local tech. It’s what one of them told me when he was out replacing my modem when it went bad (I do not have a Spectrum store anywhere near me).

smccloud That is likely the frequency repack to clear out 54-258MHz. My area had the same notice when they converted everything to MPEG4 for cable box video and the QAM video and DOCSIS channels moved to higher frequencies.

Hopefully your area gets 1.8GHz gear. They are still installing 1.2GHz gear in the remaining areas of North Texas.

smccloud I got the exact same email. It didn’t take the entire 12 hours to complete. More like maybe two hours give or take. I didn’t notice a difference afterwards. It must be important though because it’s not the usual maintenance email but an upgrade email I received like you.

smccloud they have to clear out the frequencies first. This is high-split related as they can’t keep QAM carriers down in the 54-258MHz range while they are replacing equipment. My area had the email about a month before they upgraded my neighborhood.

from the looks of it if they are using ATX amplifier replacements a lot of the swapouts will just include lid upgrades and module replacements as St. Cloud uses Scientific Atlanta 750MHz gear that has an upgrade path. Rochester MN used ATX gear to replace CCOR equipment.

Motorola870 Your post got my attention. So I know my area is extremely close to getting high-split (Tampa, Florida). So you’re saying that this email about an upgrade means that high-split is about a month away or nearby?

smccloud It shouldn’t take the full 12 hours they are just giving an estimate of how long it could take if they come across issues as they have to reprogram all of the QAM video equipment devices and DOCSIS frequencies at the CMTS level. I didn’t even notice the change when it happened. Just noticed on my cable box that I had gained HD feeds of channels previously not offered.

A few weeks back my area had another video and internet QAM repack. It seems that they are using either 662MHz or 668MHz for the OFDM PLC now in high-split areas. 668MHz is used in areas being upgraded that still have analog AGC on channel 70 in the old amps. RF channel 62, 63 are not used/needed in my area apparently.

Offer you? As in compensation? Close to nothing (unless you have BCI with an SLA and clear contractual penalties).

You could choose to go into the office, or go to a local library which offers computers, or go to a local WeWork equivalent, or use your cell phone be a wifi hotspot.

DjKilla I didn’t even know my neighborhood had gone through high-split until one day I looked on the lines going down the road and a good chunk of the area had technetix amplifers installed. I didn’t notice until August of 2023. The upgrade email was about 4 weeks after the repack. It will vary in other areas but once the repack email goes out upgrades for the system are fixing to start. I believe why my upgrades were done as quick as they were after the repack email is I am fed directly out of the main hub for the city and they started outward from that hub. I am about a mile and a half from the physical hub.

smccloud actually no the main lines leading up to the neighborhood yes but in the neighborhood it is underground. Charter actually buried the line that feeds my cascade under the main road. Before it was overhead and then went underground they added a pedestal to have a block splice to connect the sections.

Motorola870 I think all of Spectrum’s lines are underground in most of town for me, so I have no clue where the amps are.

So on the slowdown, I think its more finance and technology. Has anywhere been turned up with Phase ⅔ tech? I think they are finishing phase 1 rollouts and thats it. Dunno if its because they cant source the tech still for phase 2 or get it working large scale or what. Or they are realizing how much it costs and content to just accept the captive subscribers without fiber…

zapman987 Phase 2 has started just harder to figure out who is being upgraded with the loss of DSLreports. They were starting work on Socal before the wildfires. There has been recent posts of the 12am to 12pm email going out again in parts of Socal. The spectrum subreddit usually has upgrade chatter. I know there were several posts about upgrades in Phase 1 areas but phase 2 has started. Looks like the rest of Minnesota Charter systems are either getting 1.2GHz or 1.8GHz gear.

They are still trying to finish phase 1 in North Texas. From the looks of the FCC broadband map they are likely going to be moving on to San Antonio and Corpus Christi as they are showing 1000/1000 under cable for spectrum.

Availability (of equipment and staff) is likely the current constraint. There are just so many available people to do the work, and the equipment manufacturers can only ramp up production so fast (and they will not overbuild production capability just to meet a short term demand). While the operators will have some available stock for near term deployments, with the recent volatility in the world’s trading practices some manufacturers have some significant exposure on costs which will end up meaning Charter/Comcast (and others) may end up choosing to push the schedules even further out to maintain the same yearly expenditure (it is unclear what the exposure is for any specific telco/communications provider, and for what specific product, but a number have indicated they have at least some exposure).

CommunityMember No office to go into. Local library uses Spectrum, and I can’t take customer calls there. No local WeWork equivalent. And at home, my cell phone is the equivalent of dial-up for speed. It’s sad just how much you realize you depend on high-speed Internet when it’s down.
