Anyone have a copy of the DSLR (or otherwise) list of HighSplit locations and phasing? Bonus if it also has the status's of each.

Motorola870 I get that, but I remember way back in the 1.5 - 3 Mbps days my parents were still on 1.5 Mbps while other towns in the area were on 3 Mbps

[CEO Chris] Winfrey said Charter is making progress on its multi-phase hybrid fiber/coax (HFC) upgrade initiative. In July, Charter wrapped upgrades in phase one markets (15% of footprint) focused on enhancements to its DOCSIS 3.1 plant and enabling speeds of 2 Gbit/s down by 1 Gbit/s up.

For the past week or so, starting at 10 pm Central, my Internet has dropped to around 1.5 Mbps down and < .25 Mbps up. Sometimes I have to power cycle my modem in the morning just to work. I hope this is because they are working on upgrades, but it is annoying.

It sounds like you’re losing upstream channels. Either due to noise or transmit levels being too high.

Btw, signals on the cable system vary from day to night due to temperature changes.

They only charge for tech visits if it is found that your equipment and/or inside wiring is at fault.

Customer service reps warn of charges to customers so that they are not surprised if a tech charges for the visit, which again only happens if it is found that inside wiring and/or customer-owned equipment is causing the fault.

Odd. That is not their normal policy unless you’re a repeat caller over a short time and they never find a problem.

MacLeech Been a couple of years since I had a connection issue. I did check to see if I could get a discount last week but was polite and wasn’t upset when they couldn’t do anything but drop my speed to give me a lower price.

The spectrum community forums website high-split post has been updated to mention that 5×1Gbps is expected in 2026 and 10×1Gbps in 2027 along with FTTP 25×25 fiber on demand to follow after that.

Right now it seems in phase 1 2×1Gbps active areas there is 32 SC QAM, a 192MHz OFDM channel and a second OFDM block that is 96MHz. Spectrum analyzer shows 258MHz to 941MHz used for the downstream in my area now. They added 192MHz of OFDM capacity Tuesday morning as it looks like someone added the 2gig tier in my area. OFDM PLC’s are 662MHz and 854MHz.

This is starting to feel like scope creep. How about they finish the basic symmetrical speeds first, then worry about anything above that?

That was all in the original scope of the upgrades laid out in the investor presentation of December 2022.

The various speed plans were based on when equipment would be available from the vendors, since it would always take years to complete the upgrades.

I think part of the reason why 2026 seems to be the target for 5×1Gbps is they are waiting on DOCSIS 4.0 modems and areas to be upgraded. Makes me wonder if they are installing 1.2GHz gear in more areas than phase 1 than the rumored skip to 1.8GHz due to how long it is taking.

At the current rate they can fit 3 OFDM channels up to 1.2GHz. Just with having the OFDM from 654MHz to 942MHz they still have room for expanding the second channel to 192MHz and adding a 3rd with around 160ish MHz in phase one before re-farming QAM video.
