Power supplying your home or the Xfinity network may be out.
Network Damage is the generic reason whenever a outage occurs. After a few minutes or up to 20 mins later, I will notice the outage cause will update to “Power Outage”. I think the XOC changes the outage reason in the system to power outage after investigating the issue. But all the modems dropping offline due to a power outage triggers a generic Xfinity outage for Network Damage to start with.
Thankfully, the Alpha XM3-HP in my neighborhood has working battery backup so my modem does not lose sync during a power outage.
“Severe Weather”- You may be experiencing issues with your Xfinity services due to severe weather in or around your area. Once the area is safe, our teams will begin to repair the network to restore services by approximately XX/XX/XXX XX:XX AM. Stay safe and we appreciate your understanding. Always fun to watch the outage map as a Hurricane approaches Florida lol, then boom all the outages for Severe Weather pop up.
There are several status updates:
- Under Investigation
- Technician on the way
- Repair In Progress
These are not always updated though. For local node outages, these status updates often work great. For CRAN fiber cuts, sometimes things will sit on “Under Investigation” throughout the entire outage. or “Technician on the way”. Or things may say “Repair In Progress”, meanwhile Law enforcement/paramedics still have the scene contained and repairs have definitely not started yet. It is OK though, status map does not need to be 100% perfect, I use it to help me best assess the outage situation.
