Splitpair Recent studies on alcohol and health…
Telling people not to have ANY alcohol is an extreme position, just like telling people not to have ANY sex.
Abstinence is wrong in either case.
Clearly pregnant women should not have alcohol, as the Fetal Alcohol Syndrome is well known.
As well as people with already existing liver/kidney/heart issues.
But for everyone else, there are multiple considerations.
WE HUMANS are designed by Evolution, or God, or maybe BOTH in combination.
Alcohol is part of the natural environment, and has been so for the whole of humanity’s existence.
It’s absurd to think that either Evolution or God, made a mistake in regard to alcohol.
God told Adam and Eve to not eat apples, did He also mean Applejack ??
We do know that alcohol helps to raise the “good” cholesterol (HDL), and alcohol in moderate amounts (moderate—NOT excess) can inhibit platelet aggregation and thus reduce stroke risk.
As with most other things in life, doing it TOO much can backfire. Thus excessive alcohol consumption can cause a platelet rebound effecr, and increase stroke risk.
Moderation is the key.
Moderation, not extreme avoidance as the WHO seems to endorse.
