Comcast is pissing on us and telling us it’s raining. I would have to pay $30 more per month to get the same speeds with unlimited data plus Comcast equipment that I don’t want or need. “See we’re giving you more, if you give us more money!” They are emulating the wireless service strategy of adding more services and features for more money and taking away the older/cheaper plans.
There still isn’t much national about these plans either, even if they have the same specs, because they change pricing per street. If you have fiber on your street, you pay way less ($80 for 2Gb/250Mb). If you have just Comcast and DSL on your street, you pay way more ($100 for 1Gb/20Mb, or $100 for 1.2Gb/35Mb with a 1.2TB cap).
Comcast execs are still in denial about dealing with non-fiber competition (mostly 5G fixed wireless). While I’m not in the market for the slower speeds of wireless, plenty of people that live in non-fiber areas are, and they like the benefits of lower prices, not having to meet up with install techs, and the ease of moving. These plan changes will do nothing to stop the bleeding of customers, but will continue to suck the blood of customers that stay.
