As a boy, when I had strong eyes I was a voracious reader. There are authors (some of them big shots no longer with us) and journalists and teachers and librarians in my extended family.
Some of the stuff I most treasured as a boy where 2 atlas that no atlas today comes close to, and my dictionaries. When I started smoking pot as a kid, I’d sit and read the dictionary for hours, it was fun.
Now I have weak eyes. However, I’m getting my cataracts done in a few months!
There are things I like about eBooks and things I don’t. I’m in a crowded living space so only books of great important remain in my possession.
Incidentally, one of my favorite writers is politically opposite to me, I won’t name him, but if I met him we’d have an epoch argument I’m sure. But I LOVE his writing.
One downside to electronics books is they are pirated. One problem with paper books is trees are felled for them (I advocate Hemp farms that can well outproduce pulp and regrow in a year.)
It’s the same with music. I dear friend just perished and he had collected something like 30,000 CDs. We have to rehome them now. But what a marvelous collection!
I prefer my streaming service, despite how ephemeral it is, for one, they broadcast much of their content right from Masters of recordings at definition above CD quality.
