Rook Speaking from experience with older generations of e-readers, I would say that e-ink technology has improved substantially. I had an old Kobo Wi-Fi and a Kindle DX (second generation). Both were quite slow on refresh, and text on the old Kindle was coarse/grainy. I waited “a few” years to upgrade, and the more modern devices are a much more pleasant experience; faster refresh, almost early-90s-laser-printer-quality text, and better image display. The touch interfaces have been improved significantly since the early days (my old models were non-touch, so annoying button pads and that Kindle pointing-stick device), though I still like page-turn buttons.
For me, anything less than an 8″ e-ink display is somewhat cramped; less than 7″ is borderline unusable.
