I just been trying to figure out where the court papers might be located. Haven't had the best of luck with finding them. If the lawsuit happened in the US then there would be some type of public record.

I am not looking for them for proof of what has been said though. Trying to locate them to see if there will be a sale at some point. At some point, Liquid web would want to either sell the data or the Domain name.

Now if this happened in Canada then that would make things more difficult on my end since I don't know the laws in Canada. I been searching a little on Canada's laws though.

Now with that said, I am not a lawyer. However, I do have experience in debt collections. I had to defend myself Pro-Se a few times, including a lawsuit that a debt collector brought against my mom before. Some of them I won and some of them I ended up settling.

But to be honest, I haven't had any luck finding anything.

I do not believe Liquid Web could sell the domain name, since as far as I know they don't own it.

A registrar (appears to be Tucows) charges you "rent" for the name. It's yours to use as long as you pay rent. You probably get DNS service bundled in with the rent. You don't "own" it. Default on the rent (fail to renew) and it becomes available for the registrar to let to someone else.

Meanwhile, you probably want to put up a server for that domain name. That's where hosting companies come in to the picture. But if you stop paying the hosting fee, they don't automatically get to take over the domain name; that is someone else's property./

The business name for DSLreports is Silver Matrix LLC.

DSLreports got sued back in 2010 for copyright infringement. But from what I gathered it was dismissed. It then filed a noticed for notification to receive copyright infringement notices. I was able to locate this on Pacer.

From 2013 and before, he had judgements against him in New York. Something to do with NY State DEPT of Taxation and Finance.

It also looks like the site was trademarked until 2013. It seems the trail goes cold for me at least after 2013.

This was all located with public records so don't have an issue posting it here.

Rich221976 Good job hunting. It bothers me that it is all vieled in secrecy on top of the censorship of the site.. I hope it doesn't come back, I want it gone frankly. There was a time for it and a great deal of good came from it, but it went to poop.

Silver Matrix LLC had an office address in Manhattan but that was just an office sharing place (where people can rent desk space and mailing addresses etc).

The Corporations Division of New York State lists it as a "FOREIGN LIMITED LIABILITY COMPANY" but that does NOT mean a foreign country---rather it means an OUT-OF-STATE company (in this case the state being DELAWARE which is home on paper to boatloads of companies). The NY State ID number is 2485965.

NY State still lists it as Active but also their Annual Report is past-due, it was supposed to be filed 03/31/2004

Delaware's state website lists a registry agent of Harvard Business Services Inc, that's just a registry company that exists in Delaware to receive mail (etc) for Delaware companies. They may not even represent Silver Matrix at the present time....

First off the Domain and Name is licensed and it is to expire some time in the latter part of 2027 as I have been informed by reliable sources. Secondly I can't verify legally about Liquid Web serving papers it was posted on several web sites and told to me by a Dslr Mod that the site was broke and did not pay their bills and that Liquid Web had served papers on the ISP since Dslr shut down and all contact points were deleted and some bogus ones established.
Cabana who was running the Site as "The Justin" has cut all contact and even does not respond to some Senior Site Management Moderators.
As far as the servers being active I tried contacting :Liquid .Web who owns the servers and they will not disclose anything other than they are working on the servers and Dslreports is not active nor is it coming back

I just couldn't find anything current. There probably is a lawsuit somewhere. I just haven't located it yet. I want to see if there will be a sale. Liquid web will most likely try at least to sell the domain. They will want to re-coup the money owed to them.

I can see Liquid Web not communicating with anyone else but their customer. Technically Justin. I remember when I was working for a web hosting company doing tech support I had to verify the caller. There was a process in place for that which included additional information from the customer to be able to help them.

I don't know how many people remember the site, bonsai kitten. It was a stupid hoax site about putting kittens into jars so you can shape the kitten into the shape of a bonsai plant.

I was working there at the time all this went down. We were getting thousands of calls in wanting us to take down that site. It got so bad that at times, I logged out of my phone just to avoid the calls and just did tickets. I honestly don't blame people calling in wanting that site taken down and a good amount of people believed this guy was doing this to kittens.

The only reason the site got removed from the companies web hosting was because of the amount of phone calls that were coming in. The owners didn't care about the website until we started to get thousands of phone calls. They remove the website because of that. There was something in the terms that allowed them to do so.

The guy ended up hosting the site somewhere else. When he started to host the website again, we got phone calls demanding that we take it down. Some of the people tried to pretend to be the guy during this time as well. It was crazy.

I ended up leaving sometime after that happened and moved to NY for about a year.

True, but I still would live to see the domain be transferred to here. Also there were the direct forums with all of that personal information that I would hope would be erased completely.

I know that back when Spectrum was Brighthouse I posted in the direct forums in the past. Granted it wasn't for the address I am at now. I know that the address, phone number and any personal information about that account would not be valid for me, but can you image all of that information that was collected over the years.

(No I'm not being paranoid.). However, I would hate for this to become another data leak. We could also then keep the good tech info that was on the site.

dave From an assortment of postings and other sources I found that Liquid Web purportedly served papers to Tucows on their behalf against Dslreports since Dslr management refused contact or replies and deleted all means of contact and established some dead ended ones, What the purported Papers if they do exist contained is unknown at this time.

Between the long-time gateway error followed by the "page not available" it was understandably believed that it was gone for good. This "on vacation" page took everyone by surprise. This explains why the Wikipedia page was updated so often, though some of that was internet vandalism.

To be honest, I don't know where those who posted about missed bill payments and the like got that information from. I've always been a bit skeptical of those posts as they weren't backed up by reliable proof

I think many of the edits on the Wiki page can be taken with a grain of salt. Looking through the edit history, I was seeing that a lot of the changes lacked verifiability or reliable third-party sources..A lot of changes seemed to be "what I want to believe".
