I just did a whois lookup on GoDaddy.com for Dslreports.

I don't remember the contact information being setup like this.

Is this new information listed on the Domain Name.

I don't remember this being on there.

Looks like they setup the Domain name with some type of contact privacy that routes everything though Tucows.

That's a pretty standard thing to have these days - it's an option from most registrars.

For a domain name I control, the contact info is at withheldforprivacy.com.

I suspect they do nothing more than provide an address.

Based on centralops.net It appears DNS records are intact. I'd think that is unusual for a site that's defunct and not coming back.

Lots of conjectures and theories to be considered from "it's dead" to domain sold for other use to someone(including a group of users/mods) acquired the site partially or complete with the whole data intact.

Between the long-time gateway error followed by the "page not available" it was understandably believed that it was gone for good. This "on vacation" page took everyone by surprise. This explains why the Wikipedia page was updated so often, though some of that was internet vandalism.

To be honest, I don't know where those who posted about missed bill payments and the like got that information from. I've always been a bit skeptical of those posts as they weren't backed up by reliable proof.

Can't everyone agree that DSLR's direct ISP support was shut down? At least the site's owner reached out to this camp, ISP techs and CSRs. That conveys to me the writing was on the wall with the auto-destruct procedure being initiated.

I think many of the edits on the Wiki page can be taken with a grain of salt. Looking through the edit history, I was seeing that a lot of the changes lacked verifiability or reliable third-party sources..A lot of changes seemed to be "what I want to believe".

To believe DSLR is coming back requires that there is someone who is interested enough to put the multi-day effort into resuscitation, but not interested enough to spend a couple of minutes writing a simple statement somewhere (the 'vacation page', one of the many reddit threads, anywhere) to that effect.

Gone Dead and Berried never to Live again. No maintenance, vacations, or server errors just the plug pulled and a final lights out.
Cabana (Ren) who ran the site for Justin and as using "The Justine" Alias had the power for and Killed it and now she refuses to answer any communications from anyone, and the Dslr Moderators, or Liquid Web the Server Hosting who is owed past billings and the ISP who also has past billings neither one has been paid.
It was my doing after being informed in early December about the pending secret Shut Down by Mike a Dslr Moderator to disseminate the site closing information and start the process of alternate connections with DrStrange's help at the H-L-F web site and thankfully the news was taken seriously by SLC_96 and he created our New Home here at BBF.

I just been trying to figure out where the court papers might be located. Haven't had the best of luck with finding them. If the lawsuit happened in the US then there would be some type of public record.

I am not looking for them for proof of what has been said though. Trying to locate them to see if there will be a sale at some point. At some point, Liquid web would want to either sell the data or the Domain name.

Now if this happened in Canada then that would make things more difficult on my end since I don't know the laws in Canada. I been searching a little on Canada's laws though.

Now with that said, I am not a lawyer. However, I do have experience in debt collections. I had to defend myself Pro-Se a few times, including a lawsuit that a debt collector brought against my mom before. Some of them I won and some of them I ended up settling.

But to be honest, I haven't had any luck finding anything.
