dave From an assortment of postings and other sources I found that Liquid Web purportedly served papers to Tucows on their behalf against Dslreports since Dslr management refused contact or replies and deleted all means of contact and established some dead ended ones, What the purported Papers if they do exist contained is unknown at this time.

A site you host, DSLReports, abruptly ceased functioning on January 15th. From what I’ve gathered, the admin is completely MIA. I believe they were in arrears with Liquid Web. Any chance some DSLR community members, like myself, could make your company whole so that we don’t lose a wealth of technology knowledge from the past two decades. My goal is pretty simple, to get the site back online in a non-commercial read-only mode state. If you’re not familiar with the website, perhaps some other geeks at your company know about its importance. Any help would be appreciated.

If I get really curious, I could see if someone I know can get into Lexis-Nexis. That would probably find the jurisdiction of the case. Aside from that, I'd suggest looking at LiquidWeb's TOS or maybe their incorporation info to figure out where their home jurisdiction is. That's likely where any suit would have been filed.

I located some information in the New York State court system but everything I found was from 2013 and before. I haven't been able to locate anything current. I checked Pacer and found the copyright case from 2010-2011 somewhere there can't quite remember.

Luckily with pacer, you get 30 dollars worth of searches for free in a three month period. Used to be monthly but that changed a while ago.

I found the business name on the new court system. I kindof remember the name Silver Matrix LLC from the past but not sure why. That's where my searched ended.

Can someone tell me why everyone is making a big deal regarding redacted WHOIS information? It's common practice to not have direct contact information for domains, but rather have the registrar information. It's a metter of privacy and to reduce spam. I've done that with my domain for well over a decade.

I think it's a case of "I don't understand the norms of domain registration, and therefore I assume nefarious intent".

As you say, most people that 'own' domain names know how it works.

No, it's because this particular domain owner ghosted his site several years ago and now decided to just pull the plug on it and the hundreds if not 1000+ multi-decade loyal users which most other site owners would covet and be very heartened to have. Instead he just pulled the plug with nary a warning or even an end date as if it was one giant "FU" to them. Trying to find his contact information to ask as to whether if the site is just down or gone for good isn't unreasonable. "Assuming nefarious intent" isn't unreasonable either considering how much the userbase of this site had invested in time, effort, and expertise in helping each other and the Internet as a whole on his site.

I think we all deserve some explanation directly from him even if "it's his site and he can do what he wants". We all made it what it was. If he feels we should all eff ourselves we deserve to hear that from him too.

From what I gather, the female admin, not Justin pulled the plug. In saying that, it sucks, but perhaps there's health problems that occurred and they're overwhelmed with life. I don't have any knowledge of that being the reason, but I do ponder it as an answer to the abrupt DSLReports ending.

The point is that it's one thing to state you've interacted with someone online.

It's quite different when you go to BBQs where DSLR Mods were present and in Dennis' case, were the BBQ host.

There was a (now) mostly extinct Chicagoland Ameritech DSL sub-Forum on DSLR and we had BBQs at various members and Mods homes.

I'd like to at least like to be able to DL the pics from those, that were posted on DSLR.

I know HFB1217 (Hank) from DSL Reports quite well, he was listed on the old site as a very long-time member and former moderator. And his Avatar is very familiar to me.

I also had personal DSLR messages with him on some occasions.

To update a Bible quite, the DSLR site had many mansions.

I happened to be in a large number of different DSLR forums, but everyone has their own interests.

I posted this previously on the Reddit page---HFB1217 (Hank) is real.

I'm not in a position to comment on any particular statements/speculation/information, but Hank is real...

I am one of the original DslReports member from when the site was about 4 months old. Also one of the first site Moderators when there were only 6 of us Moderators and also a Forum Host/moderator for 5 forums and started those 5 forums as well. My yearly site visits averaged about the 500 range and my postings amounted to about 65K. I Was still a Forum Moderator for the Seti forum when the site was Killed
25 years of membership totals at over 9100 days while having the same site name and avatar for those days. Bink63 To not see me or know of me is total BS,

Me 2. My "daily driver" is Pale Moon, which was forked from Firefox back when Firefox was still half-decent (don't get me started). I had to switch to Chromium (open source version of Chrome) for BBBulletin. Pale Moon was almost unusable, and I suspect Firefox will have similar issues.
