If one sets aside their emotions and frustrations, I believe a more sober and logical approach would recognize several things.
First, if the DSLR site is in some form of non-payment receivership, the new owners would simply either take it fully off air or would post a simple (if temporary) notice to that effect in place of the site - there's no reason for them to 'mess' with visitors via snarky messaging or time-constrained access without informing users of why in an initial message.
Second, somebody has been, in fact, actively posting and updating initial messages since the site first went down - but that doesn't mean any posted name(s) in those messages are necessarily accurate.
Third, whoever is posting the initial messages has ongoing, significant access to the site code or server control levers, though that doesn't necessarily mean they're the site's prior legal owners/operators.
Finally, if the DSLR site is actually still being controlled by the original owners or their successors, the messaging (or lack) has been a most disingenuous way to treat thousands of loyal users of many years standing - meaning there would no realistic hope of those users ever returning to the site if this has all been 'game-playing' by the owners, hence a petty and pointless activity.
Given those realities, I choose to exercise a heavy dose of caution and will avoid entering or logging into the site until the air is cleared (if ever) about the full scope of what has actually and officially occurred.
