🙄 LA and Anaheim are around 40km apart. Both are roughly 2900km from the nearest Canadian LTE tower.

France has Disneyland Paris, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort, Shanghai Disney Resort.

None of which are near a Canadian LTE tower.

What the place is called or what exact city it’s in is moot. My point is that your phone did not receive a Canadian alert over LTE at that location at that time.

So either it regurgitated an old alert or maybe some WiFi calling mechanism was active that tunneled the alert from Canada. In both cases the party that needs to do more testing is the phone manufacturer.

Because no Canadian alert was broadcast out of a US cell tower over there.

KingB71 same here. My iPhone (iOS 18.5 RC) was silent except for the screen notice. I was waiting to do a Rogers TV show and all the staff phones in the control room went off.

My phone sure as fuck did receive the exact alert I just posted as I was standing in the fucking line for Space Mountain in Disneyland on May 16th 2023 12:04pm for the alert for Emerson Poulin.

Then May 18th I took an uber to John Wayne Airport to fly to Phoenix for a 90 Min layover and then fly to Buffalo, landed at 9pm.

No Wifi calling at all, never would ever enable that garbage.

Artwebb1986 Calm down. I’m just saying that a Canadian emergency alert broadcast from a Canadian cell phone tower did not magically fly down to California to reach your phone.

The emergency alerts are not routed individually to each phone like an SMS. They are broadcast once to every cell phone talking to that particular tower.

The people responsible for the alert broadcast? No. The Canadian alerts are being broadcast in the appropriate area of Canada. No Canadian alerts are being broadcast in California.

The people responsible for making your phone and the cell carriers? Possibly. Maybe the manufacturer included an app to display the alert by the request of the carrier. I know android phone come with a bunch of carrier shovelware. If it’s iOS then it has to be some other reason.

I’m not saying you didn’t get the alert. I’m saying that it came over the internet and not over the LTE alert broadcast hardware.

They is whoever had a thunder bay emergency alert go to a Bell cell phone in Anaheim California.

No Wifi was used. Just roaming with my cellular data.

Use Textra for text messages. No iOS Apple hadn’t been used since iPhone 3g and never will. No app displays. Popped up and vibrated just like the first and only test I’ve ever gotten yesterday.

Why would I want an app for that? I don’t care that alerts vibrate my phone. Not like the alerts go away from the emergency alert list on my phone anyways. Even got a test this year while I was at Disneyworld January 15th 2025.

And on some phones, the old alerts are STORED so can be pulled up later on.

Usually under “Emergency Alert History” on Androids, these are stored until erased from history.

Or under “Notification Center” on iPhones, but on the iPhone it is only stored for a few days, and if you’ve read the alert already then it will NOT be stored.

No. No ISP supports general purpose multicast currently. That would be some serious ISP and transit provider reconfiguration and upgrades. It would also be redundant since the LTE network can already do this.

I’m talking phone app that connects to a server like any other.

Nobody said you purposefully installed an app for that. The two possibilities that were given is either the app was bundled with the phone OS by the carrier (Android) or a some other app you installed has that functionality.

No. You are not being called a liar. We all believe you got the alert. What we’re saying is that it didn’t come over the (non-internet) part of the LTE cell network. We’re just trying to figure out what app or something is responsible because the developer of that app is the “they” that you keep insisting needs to do more testing.
