egeezer It doesn’t seem complicated to me. Cite links summarized with a couple of sentences, and elaborate as you wish in your own words. Since we’re not writing academic papers, APA, Chicago, MLA citation styles aren’t necessary.

broknsymetry You can title the link anything you want using the brackets. Just pasting the link yields the title given in the meta data of the webpage.

broknsymetry A Flarum plugin handles it. Looking at the source code for your link there is not any body text, just script. I don’t know if that is a factor, offhand I’d say it is. The title for the link appears to be generated from the page’s meta data. If you can find which plugin used for this you can dig through the source code to determine precisely how it is done.
InternetJeff SLC_96 When sharing news articles, a link must be included to the article with no more than 2 sentences of quoted content, whenever possible. Often the lead of a news article is included in its first few sentences. Is this still a rule? Almost every day I see posts with more than two sentences from an article source. Sometimes the material isn’t even quoted, and just copied and pasted. Maybe that is a loophole to get around the limitation of “quoted” material.

Donoreo I want to say I still do not like the separate news areas. I much prefer everything all in one place and not having to go to All Discussions and News as well. All should be all.

Mods shouldn’t have to monitor every new post made under each and every tag looking for news stories and ones that include excessively long quotes. The wonderful volunteers who are keeping things under control should be lauded.

GeekGirl1 vaxvms I completely agree. I’ve seen AI generated posts in a forum I moderate. Yes, we do have a policy for that. Disclose the query and cite your sources. Also, that AI generated posts have little value and the mods can delete them at any time. Google “AI detector” for a list of websites where you input the text and it tells you if the content is AI generated.

A long long time ago in a universe forum far far away, I remember some big embarrassments when people’s posts were revealed to be 100% AI-written. Busted!

I hesitate to pester folks about site policies that are, imo, not being adhered to. Remember folks - Play by the site rules. Don’t make rules to suit your personal wants.
Donawalt GeekGirl1 I have found these sites to be wildly inconsistent and inaccurate - the same post tests as 0% in several and 90% in others; next time it is flipped between ‘yes it is’ and ‘no it is not’ between those same sites. I have spent a little time testing them, you might get a hint of an AI post at best but imho the lack of consensus makes it hard to conclusively act on.
