Thought I'd start a new thread for suggesting functionality and not clog up the "Suggestions for additional forums" thread. How about embedding YT and other videos, twitter feeds, etc. Currently I can post links but embedding is much better.

Why is this response to a post showing up way down here out of context....You can't follow a conversation.

This is horrendous and the layout makes no sense.

What's the difference between a Following and a Tag?

SLC_96 There is now a forum following feature. Forums here are also called tags. When browsing a tag, click on the follow button, then follow the tag. When following a tag you can view all the discussions in followed tags in one view.

To view the discussions you are following click on "following", then toggle between the Discussions you are following and the Tags (forums) you are following.

Can someone take some screenshots and write a tutorial for this?

I don't understand this at all!

I believe you have to follow a "Tag" first. In the new lingo, "Tag" = "Forum" and "Discussion" = "Thread". There are "subtags" too like "Automotive" under the "More" Tag. To follow a Tag or Subtag go to the main page for that Tag (sub) and click the "Follow" button.

To follow a Discussion in a Discussion view click the three vertical dots on the right and choose Follow. You automatically follow discussions that you create or post.

Also try force reloading the page. I made some cache control changes based on recommendation from Flarum.

This still makes no sense...when I click on Tags a the top of Broadband Bulletin Forum...I am taken to a page where everything is Broadband Bulletin, Open Forum, Tech, Software and Operating Systems etc.
When I click on Following (after going into each one I want to follow) I clicked on Follow...when I click on Following there's nothing there.
This is where all the MAIN discussions that I'm Following should be listed.
When I click on All Discussions...All Discussions are there...so logic states when I click on Following all my "Followed" discussions should be listed.

I just realized you can add a little message about yourself or quote or whatever.
It shows up when you hover over a user's avatar.
I like it.

You set it on your "Profile" page, right near the top. I think we had something similar back at the old site.

Looks like Private Discussions is back. Note that you can Block it in the Privacy section of your user settings.
edit: I was confused on what the difference is between Private Conversations and Conversations (PM feature) and it appears to me that the PM feature is only between you and one person. The Private Conversations allows you to add multiple people.

Kathy_9 Probably the quickest way would be to click on "Original Post" on the top of the slider to the right and then click on "Broadband Bulletin" which is the tag/forum name.

Still extra steps. I know I am nitpicking here, but overall if we want people to keep coming here it has to have good navigation. This software does not follow a lot of long established navigational features for forums.

I am not the only one thinking this way. I know we have to adjust to new things and I am not opposed to that, they just have to be good.

So you can talk about others in private with a group? We all know that is what it will get used for.

Yes, but the PM here only lets you add one person. That's why I think the Private Discussions was added, it can acomodate multiple people

SLC_96 With a quick look I see a Flarum extension that may do the trick. So coming soon...

If you have installed this extension for filtering, etc, it is not very good. I appreciate what you have done and are doing, do not get me wrong, my suggestions are to improve the site even if they do seem all negative at the moment.
