pb5053 Wait maybe Verizon or Windstream will need to dig again to do their fiber someday.
Yeah its slow going.
The holdup is splicing. Williams Tech has been splicing in Reifton (near the fire co side) for weeks now. Still can’t get service up there. Let me check my test address….
Nope… still only offering modem.
A lot of the fiber is up, its just splicing, testing, confirmation and turning it over to the system so it can be ordered. Big delays there.
Then the underground areas really depend on where the conduit and pedestal replacement process is. A lot was done last year in prep for this year, but they didn’t get to everyone.
Fiber terminals are numbered up and down St Lawrence Ave now. Maybe they are lit. Checking…
Nope, finally found one home on St Lawrence Ave that was not “an existing customer”. Still offering modem only. I guess numbers on the tap mean nothing. I thought thats when it was tested with light and ID’d for documentation.
Maybe SECV is waiting for the optical SFP’s that go into the Nokia switch at the 6400 Perkiomen Ave headend site.
That https://shop.secv.com/ sucks because you can’t check for your own house. It says an active account already exists at this address and to call. I mean the very LEAST they could do is say “Congrats, fiber is available, call us now to order” instead of calling to be told its not available. So I just keep putting in addresses until I find one thats not an SECV customer. It will tell you pick a plan if its only modem, or it will say “Great News! Fiber is available at your address!” You’d think they would at least tell you or show a map or a plan so you don’t have to waste CSR phone or chat asking is it available… No instead its either that or keep plugging away at addresses near you until you find a non-customer and see what you get.
