It looks like the variety tier will be converted to IP on 10/21/25 according to their website. This will leave classic cable and local advantage. I suspect that those two will be done next year. So, this means the end of the line for my two CableCards sometime next year. I can switch my two TiVo’s to OTA if I want to, but I don’t think it will worth the hassle to put up an antenna. Not sure if I will rent the TiVo Stream from them or I may try some streaming options using my Roku box. I think the pricing for all the needed streaming services will rival what SECV is charging so it will be a wash one way or another.
They have the fiber feed from Foutain Springs and possibly Ashland hooked into the hub in Frackville. About a month ago Cable Services ran fiber from the Altamont section along Lehigh Avenue, to a junction point on Balliet and Pine streets. It met a fiber run from the hub to that intersection. I thought maybe they would run that down the old Frackville road into Maizeville to tie into the run going back to the SECV headend. It does look like there is a main run running from east spring to west spring which is the route that the current Frackville feed is on. This will terminate at the hub at the end of John Street. I assume that they will focus on the runs from the hub to the nodes first then build out from each node. I would guess that there is about 2 more years of work to be done until I see fiber on my street.
