I created this community to be the spiritual successor to DSLReports. DSLReports, after decades of service appears to have been shutdown. The mission of this space is to provide an early web experience without algorithmically driven content by sorting discussions based on date of last post. Since this forum is running more modern software than the forums of yore, it may feel like on the surface it may deteriorate into the social experience we know from other sites, but that wont happen here. With the community's support I plan to retain the old-school forum experience with your help. Please create discussions, reply and engage with others. We cant let this community die. Is there a forum missing that you want to participate in? Create a discussion in t/broadband-bulletin. Spread the word. We want as many community members to find us as possible. If you a new here, welcome! This forum isn't just for old timers. As this site takes hold moderators will be appointed and community guidelines will be established. I have been a DSLReports member since 2005 and daily visitor since before that. It is good to see you again.

Hello all! I'm glad to see a replacement for DSLReports. I loved having a place where I can get into more technical discussions about broadband technology! On Reddit the various ISP subs are full of "My bill went up!" or other random administriva instead of talk about the underlying tech and how to get the most out of it.

I joined DSLreports over 20 years ago, so have been around, first on the Bellsouth (later AT&T) forum and more recently the Comcast one. I hope this place continues to get regular traffic; I do plan to add it to my daily stuff I read.

Haven't deleted my bookmark but did close my pinned tab that has been at the start of my tabs for years. At first I was checking often, but now only every few days.

Can't be too surprised that DSLReports gone off-line, it's been on autopilot for a very long time and really baffled on how it's supported. I don't block ads and allow all scripts on there, but almost zero difference between logged in and logged out, so sure as heck it ain't advertising paying the hosting bills. While I had posted so infrequently (I think 12 or 13 times since joining in late 2000), I did visit daily or most days. I really missed the SoCal forums with "CourtesyFlush's" postings of video links of '30s/'40s Los Angeles on film (colorized), MMIII's postings (the guy must have a dozen incarnations for the year he joined as his handle, year 2003), the Red Room, and AnAwesomeDude being AnAwesomeDude (mostly on A/V subforum). So much early DSLR vanished over time. It managed about 25 years which is hella impressive for a site with no visible means of income and being savaged both by the Great Offline Event and flippin' Facebook.

It's good to see more and more DSLR folks coming over. I found out via Wikipedia when checking on DSLR's page there. Decided to re-use my DSLR handle and recreate my avatar pix.

Good to hear from other DSLRites.

Thanks for bringing back a little bit of "home" I don't do many forums these days. However DSLR was one of them. I think it was something that was going to happen at some point but the not so sudden. It was like here today gone the next without warning.

Thanxs for creating this new home for former DSLreports posters. My username there was smokes14 and I became a member in 2001. I didn't post much but I read it daily and learned a lot from both the Apple and Home Improvement forums. Glad I did a search and found my new home here.

We lost so many people during the run of DSLR, Fast Eddie, Lil, Calamity Jane, Don, tmpchaos, Chuck22 and many more.

egeezer You can add AB and Jabarnut to that list. I have a patch of "Bare Naked Ladies" in the front yard. Every year the first of August they bloom and the color of the flowers makes me think of Lil.

...we also lost FureverFurry several years ago. I know she had health issues, but didn't think they were major. Then she just... disappeared... :-(
