I haven’t had enough time to look at prospective draft picks for the 2026 draft - I guess the real question is - is there someone in the pool that is SO outstanding this year that getting first pick is a big winner proposition for the team - I remember in the years where McDavid and Crosby and a few of other “this generation” big names were the hot commodity on the top of the pool that winning that first round first draft pick was a make or break proposition - you were either getting a billion dollar player, or you were going to trade that spot for something amazing in return (usually based on salary cap, etc), whatever the choice may be. I don’t follow the juniors close enough to know what the field looks like - is 2026 the killer year to get that first draft pick, or would it have been better next year or the one after?
