He’ll be 36 at the end.
He is smaller and lighter than what I think of when I think of Vegas (6′0″, 180#).

The Panthers are keeping the band together. Bennett, Ekblad, and Marchand are all re-signed.🤯😎

Maybe the Panthers will be like the Brady era Patriots(In terms of their dominance and how the rest of the league hates them)? That would mean 20 years in a row of dominance for the Panthers.🤯😎 The Patriots actually have a similar résumé to the Panthers. The Patriots were absolute garbage before Brady got there for 40 years(which is equivalent to the Panthers’ 20 year stretch of hell), and they lost in their first Super Bowl around 1987, to the Redskins I think, which would be equivalent to the Panthers losing to Colorado in the finals in 1996. They also lost their second Superbowl the season before the 20 year run started when Bledsoe was their starter and Brady was the back-up, which is equivalent to the Panthers losing to Vegas in the finals 3 seasons ago. It’s uncanny how similar the Patriots’ and Panthers’ résumé has been so far. Hopefully the uncannyness will continue for about 15 more years.😀

So, today was the big opening to free agency. I wasn’t paying super-close attention.

They did say the return for Marner is just Nicolas Roy. That seems like weak return. I know they needed to dump salary, but that doesn’t seem like good asset management.

Looks like the other big trade of the day is Carolina getting K’Andre Miller from the Rangers for Morrow a 1st and a 2nd.

As for signings:
Marner signed 8 years for $12M.
Ekblad re-signed for cheap - 8 years $6.1M
Bouchard re-signed for 4 years at 10.5M
Marchand re-signed for $5.25M for 6(!) years. He’ll be well into his 40s by then.
Demko re-signed for 3 years at $8.25M. That seems like a ton for a guy with a lot of issues.
Boeser re-signed for 7 years at $7.25M
Granlund signed in Anaheim for 3 years at $7M
Matt Murray signed in Seattle for $1M.

and Cory Perry signed in LA. So that means that LA will make the Cup Finals and lose.

Canucks are keeping their core, the Boeser signing was a surprise but Demco and Garland weren’t……now we just need to find a new home for EP…..cause if he turns into a dud again, there will be no trade value.😱🏒

Expectedly, today was much quieter. One minor trade. And mostly teams stocking up on players signing for the league minimum.

Probably the biggest name of note was Winnipeg getting Gustav Nyquist for 1 year at #3.25M. And he’s probably a couple years removed from relevance.
