VOIPO.com Billing Issues (Again)

Great to see this platform launched! I did a search and didn’t see this topic so I’ll take a crack at it. VOIPO.com has had multiple billing issues in the past and the issue has come back strong again in the past few months if TrustPilot is any indication. It happened to me one time last fall and I posted on Reddit about it. Tim reached out to me there and reveresed the charge when I gave him the ticket number. He also said he flagged my account so that it would never happen again. After that, I deleted my credit card from their system. Or, so I thought. I have been pre-paid through April of 2028 for quite some time This week, I was surprised to find a $185 charge hit the credit card I previously used with them. Calls go unanswered. Chat is blank. I opened a support ticket and received an automated response but nothing else. There are some very angry people on TrustPilot and Reddit. It does look like fraud given the lack of action and lack and lack of engagement. And the fact that this continues to occur across multiple time points. Tim - if you are lurking here by chance, the ticket is: Ticket ID: EFO-911-35267. If not, I’m waiting for other charges to clear that credit card and then I’ll have to call it in as fraud, get the charge reversed and get a new card number. It is a huge hassle because I have that card number aligned to multiple services and auto-payments. I have had to cancel or move them all, which I shouldn’t have to do. When I delete my card from an online retailer, it should be deleted.

Did VOIPO get sold since the Beter Business Bureau is showing “This business profile is being updated”? It might explain why there are issues getting refunds if they are transitioning who is running the company.

At the same time BBB has currently removed all of the Reviews and all of the Complaints….!

Looks like a clever and deliberate use of a loophole to hide the reviews. I don’t know if mine ever made it to the site or not. The business gets 2 weeks to respond before the posting but I never checked back. No hiding Trust Pilot though. I reversed the charge from last month but my account is still showing as paid through 12 more months than I actually did pay for. Not that they will be in business that far out.

As said, I’ve just never seen a company be able to do that, and I am familiar with LOTS of companies with bad reviews/complaints on BBB.

Some companies actually answer the complaints quickly and some companies totally ignore them, but I’ve never seen them just erased…

BBB is not actually a single national group, there are locally-owned BBB (just like McDonalds).

Voipo attempted to add another 2 years of service without authorization even though my existing service does not expire until July 2026, thank God my payment method on file was expired so the attempt failed.

Wow what is WRONG with “Voipo” and their owner Tim?

Something is going on, as for some time now the BBB website on Voipo has removed the previous Complaints and Reviews, stating that “This business profile is being updated”.

Recent YELP reviews tell the same story over and over.

The company owner (Tim) used to be on DSLR all the time, the DSLR community helped to grow his new business.

If he is still the owner, his lack of response to this repeated problem is puzzling, frustrating, and disturbing.

He had to have known, because it was on the old DSLR site too, as well as all over many other sites as above.

The California Secretary of State (Voipo LLC is based in California even though not originally incorporated there) lists Voipo as INACTIVE as of 06/02/2025 (that status change is just last week)…

…It also says “Status: Forfeited - FTB”. (FTB is the Franchise Tax Board—-“Every LLC that is doing business or organized in California must pay an annual tax of $800”)

However, the Florida Secretary of State (their original incorporation) does list Voipo LLC as Active, and the most recent Annual Report was filed 04/13/2025.

px_eliezer_ That probably means Voipo LLC has not filled or paid its taxes and is most likely going out of business. That could possibly explain the unauthorized service renewals if they were using that to pay off debts to stay in business. If anybody is on Voipo and does not want to possibly risk losing your phone number, you might want to start making plans now to port out your VOIPO phone number.

The lack of any sort of public response from Voipo after months (or more) of issues, the disappearance of reviews and complaints from the BBB site (never saw that before), the numerous reports of billing problems on multiple forums….

There seems to be a change in the Better Business Bureau pages regarding Voipo.

It still says “This business profile is being updated” but now:

1) Customers now are invited to leave reviews.
You will not be able to read any existing reviews at this time, but you may leave a review.

2) Customers now are invited to file complaints.
You will not be able to read any existing complaints at this time, but you may file a complaint.

I’m so glad I got away from them. Tim was a part of Host Gator (as I recall) when it started. After they had their multi-week meltdown, I moved everything to voip.ms. I wonder when we’ll be back here making these posts about voip.ms. Ugh.

My Voipo service just went down this morning and unable to log into website stuck in loading loop. I emailed support which resulted in a support ticket being generated in an automated reply email. It will be interesting to see if I get a response or has Voipo finally closed down operations.

Not seeing any issues at this point here.. Seems they have taken the “automatic” out of the payment system so I have to go in every month on my one number to click the pay button.

My latest ticket a couple of weeks ago removing a virtual number was answered timely.. Someone is still behind the helm.

Hard Down across the board all day today. They actually posted on Twitter about it for the first time in almost 8 months, saying it was a data center issue. Yeah, like maybe you didn’t pay the bill? Some poor doctor was very upset because his office phone was offline and patients couldn’t call in.

They actually issued an update that they are still working through the hardware failure; and also claimed that they are currently blocked from issuing card refunds by their card processor and advised people to dispute with their credit card company.

I hate that I pre-paid them for service that I will not get but this looks like the end and I’ll have to go elsewhere. And they can stick it on me sending back the GS device.

We are on BYOD.. never went down as far as we know. Neither line. Wonder if just the primary center was out?

Their responses on Twitter plus posts here are suggestive of new ownership. But who knows? They’ve implemented a new payment platform. My old card is not saved and there is new GUI for payment entry. I don’t see PayPal as an option anymore but I may have missed it.

They keep banging out 50% renewal emails but not a single communication to customers about what had been going on or what is to come.
