VOIPO.com Billing Issues (Again)

Great to see this platform launched! I did a search and didn’t see this topic so I’ll take a crack at it. VOIPO.com has had multiple billing issues in the past and the issue has come back strong again in the past few months if TrustPilot is any indication. It happened to me one time last fall and I posted on Reddit about it. Tim reached out to me there and reveresed the charge when I gave him the ticket number. He also said he flagged my account so that it would never happen again. After that, I deleted my credit card from their system. Or, so I thought. I have been pre-paid through April of 2028 for quite some time This week, I was surprised to find a $185 charge hit the credit card I previously used with them. Calls go unanswered. Chat is blank. I opened a support ticket and received an automated response but nothing else. There are some very angry people on TrustPilot and Reddit. It does look like fraud given the lack of action and lack and lack of engagement. And the fact that this continues to occur across multiple time points. Tim - if you are lurking here by chance, the ticket is: Ticket ID: EFO-911-35267. If not, I’m waiting for other charges to clear that credit card and then I’ll have to call it in as fraud, get the charge reversed and get a new card number. It is a huge hassle because I have that card number aligned to multiple services and auto-payments. I have had to cancel or move them all, which I shouldn’t have to do. When I delete my card from an online retailer, it should be deleted.

I am trying to port out my Voipo number to Vonage for Home and Bandwidth has denied my port out request. I have email both support@voipo.com and tim@voipo.com I received a response from support@voipo.com for me to answer some verification answers which I promptly responded but so far I have not heard anything back from them no account number or port out pin. I have even emailed Bandwidth’s porting department email address but my guess is they are going to refer me back to Voipo.

As of this morning, I still have no service. I did submit a ticket but I will spend time this weekend setting up new service with another provider. No one has ever had my Voipo number to call in on so I won’t be porting it. It’s a shame, but sometimes you get what you pay for.

I am learning that lesson the hard-way since it might cost me my home phone number. That is why I went with Vonage for Home since I do not believe their owner Ericsson is going under anytime soon.

Service has been down here for 2 or more days and I don’t have a good feeling on it. We want to keep our number but as my wife said - the only calls we ever get are from fake debt collectors (we’ve never defaulted on anything) and yes we’ve has our number for 40 years but with the advent of cell phones, she uses her number and I use mine.

Voipo support has shut off access to phone support and live chat. It is basically telling you to email or open a support ticket on their vPanel where so far they are ghosting me after answering the verification question they wanted.

If You can log into VPANEL and select the “Failover” feature. Fill in your cell phone number or any phone number you have access to and save. Anyone calling your Voipo number SHOULD forward to the cell because the calls are reaching Voipo’s servers but the ATA’s are not registering. Hope this temporarily helps, it is working for me for incoming re-directs. This way all the scammers can once again reach me…..lol

DWDM I’m going to try 1-voip at ~$11/mo including fees and supplied ATA. If I like it, I will upgrade to an annual plan. It only includes 500 outgoing minutes but almost all of my calls are incoming.

1-voip looks to be a good outfit.

Callcentric and Voip.MS are good providers with long track records, and many people like them because you can easily use your own equipment (such as IP phones) and both companies have a boatload of call treatment options, callblocking, etc.

I have used Callcentric for my home AND my business for well over 10 years, excellent reliability and support, very user-friendly dashboard.

Cheap VoIP, like cheap women, does NOT work out well.

If “Voipo” has gone under, it’s partly because they were under-pricing their services, and had been for years.

This was discussed more than once on the old DSLR Voip forum.

I got a response back from Bandwidth they basically told me I have to contact Voipo and so far I have heard noting back. The rejection was due to incorrect port out pin but I never set a port out pin. I am guessing Voipo has to generate one I am wondering if Bandwidth is now requiring a port out pin to be generated just like the wireless carriers.

Probably true but they well might sell it at some point.

If anybody on Voipo still has no service it looks like you will need to create a support ticket since they said they fully resolved the outage last night calling everybody that still has no service an isolated case.

I finally got Voipo to respond to both open tickets by creating a new ticket for the service outage. If you want to port out of Voipo you better do it now while they are still in business since they have to generate a port out pin which they cannot do if they close up shop.

Vonage for Home monthly pricing with taxes and fees came out to be $15.56 a month and Voipo monthly fee with taxes and fees came out to be $18.00 a month. Vonage for Home comes out cheaper than VOIPO when you are paying on a month to month basis. VOIPO only comes out cheaper if you pay for 2 years of service in advance.

toolman1990 Every time I open a ticket, they close it. I think they are full of it.

I ordered an HTA801 from Amazon. I will have it by Monday. I’m going to sign up for 1-voip and their $9+fees/month plan (unlimited incoming, 500 min outgoing)
BYOD and see how that goes.
