I am on the gig tier and it used to say 1000 Mbps down and 150 Mbps up. My account now shows 1100Mbps down and 300 Mbps up. I tested and I am indeed receiving the new speeds.

Increasing the download speed by only 100Mb seems odd.

Why not do 2.5Gb instead of 2.1Gb?

Just kind of awkward to have odd numbers like 1.1 and 1.3.

1.0 and 1.5 would make more sense.

Very pleasantly surprised to see them make 35Mb upload standard across all tiers. They were only at 5Mb upload just a few years ago.

They of course could’ve done this years ago, but they seem to be getting less conservative with worrying about congestion than in the past.

Should be interesting to see how the low-split nodes hold up with everyone on 35Mb upload now.

bigcoda For whatever reason, they always give residential a speed boost first, then business class follows months later.

Kind of funny, since business customers are paying way more and typically more valued customers lol

I haven’t tried rebooting my gateway yet. Right now it’s testing at the old 300/20 speeds (around 356/23).

400/35 on a 3.0 modem working well

Probably will downgrade them to NOW 100/20 for $30

With the new speeds, I was able to downgrade from Gigabit Extra at 1300 Mbps to Gigabit at 1100 Mbps for a savings of $25/month. I’m sure I won’t notice the change in speed at all - but I will notice saving $300/year!

For Now gonna stay with Gigabit 1100MB/35

But in the future if i need to downgrade would i have to give up my Wifi 6E in XB8 gateway if i was to downgrade to Fast 600/35?

Typically just 2 People in Household–usual tasks Streaming from Peacock at times, or Max App (HBO Max) or watching Regular Comcast Cable channels

My usual tasks are as follows
OneDrive Online backups at times
Virtual Djing in Secondlife Game
Online Gaming
Of course PC updates and Other updates for Galaxy S25 and Other family members Iphone

Been at Gigabit since 2019, so little uneasy so far on thought of downgrading in the future, if Comcast would even allow a downgrade.

Might decide to Downgrade by June to continue affording Peacock, do have to keep our Triple play though

Lol, so I guess we will be seeing another price increase, by the end of the year for this speed increase? Comcast never gives you something for for free, to show there appreciation. They will make up for it somewhere down the line.

Ahhhhh…read the fine print…free for two years on the gigabit plans which I noticed you had. Never noticed the 2 year rule until now.

I’m going to assume you have no reward status with them.

Just recently think in January this year, account holder started on Diamond Reward status, but don’t see anything related to Peacock on there as yet, i suppose i can check again closer to July when the free 2 years ends for Peacock

Not that most of the folks on this sub (or the prior DSLR) care, since most are obsessed with multi-gig speeds, but Prepaid has been the same price since it started in 2017. $45/month bought you 10Mbps then, and it’s now 200Mbps for the same price. Incredible bargain in the non-NE regions since it includes free unlimited data. We went for years playing Comcast’s games with the Promo Dance and ever escalating prices, I can’t believe they still let this Prepaid thing exist. And so glad I stumbled upon it, it’s saved us literally thousands of dollars since we’re always way over the ridiculous cash-grab 1.2TB post paid data cap. Shhhh. 😉

There is always another price increase. The only question is the exact when.

Prepaid has been the same price since 2016, and the speed has increased multiple times since then.

It was I think 10/1Mb originally, and now it’s 200/20 for the same price.

They even introduced a cheaper $30 plan.

It’s not a secret, but they intentionally make it difficult to sign up for, and they don’t really advertise it much.

But it is listed on Comcast’s main website under the Internet drop-down menu.

If you’re a current postpaid customer, you need to fully cancel your service to switch to prepaid.

Of course, if all of their customers suddenly cancelled their postpaid and switched to the $30 plan, they’d probably have a lot of unhappy shareholders lol
