I am on the gig tier and it used to say 1000 Mbps down and 150 Mbps up. My account now shows 1100Mbps down and 300 Mbps up. I tested and I am indeed receiving the new speeds.

If you mostly stream, or access simple web content, you likely will not notice a difference. For those who download a lot of content (some gamers, some developers), or upload a lot of content (cloud backup), you might. Some people are more than willing to wait a bit longer to save $30/mo. Some people are willing to spend $30/mo to eliminate waits. To each their own.

Yeah, several months ago, I decided to drop my HSI tier from “Superfast” 800/20 to “Connect More” 300/20 to save some money after a few rounds of yearly Comcast bill increases.

I haven’t noticed any significant impact with that speed drop. Now that the “Connect” 150 tier’s upload speed has been boosted, I may try dropping down again to that to save another $20 a month.

bigcoda Thanks for posting the image from Reddit. I copied that to my Comcast Business rep to ask about any changes on the business side. I have 3 sites left on the old standard system. My other sites have moved to 500/200 after the Next Gen upgrades.

I’ll post back if she returns with any chart on the business side. Thats helpful for anyone working with them on a professional level.

Retirees with their account on auto-pay, signed up for a triple play at $300/month are their favorite customers lol

That described most of my family members until I switched them to cheaper plans.

I guess the 1100/1100 speed is the sum of the bandwidth that can be provided across multiple 1G ports, then?

Yes I suppose that likely would be their response/intention with it. In a way it’s like a lazy QoS / rate limiting if that is the case

Late tonight (1:00 AM) is the first time since the speed increase that I have been able to confirm the increased speed on my Gigabit Extra connection.

I don’t know whether it just a night with low activity or Xfinity actually fixed something as for the past few weeks download speeds have typically been in the 800 to 900 Mbs whereas prior to that I would frequently see 1400 Mbs down.

Same. It’s rare to see the old 2000 let alone the new 2100 I now have. Now that 1100 has 300 upload, that’s what I’ll switch to when my current promo is up.

I was havng issues with too hot a signal (which is why previously losing the XB8s channels sucks). Via the comcast/xfinity sub reddit, they confimed the issue and sent a tech. Fortunately, I got a good one and he added a splitter outside to tame the signal and then also replaced every single connector and also replaced the line connecting my jack to the modem. That seemed to do the trick, even if I can’t get the full speed that often, but I blame that on oversubscription of my node rather than wires that can’t handle it.

Perhaps reddit can help you too?

Might just downgrade at some point.

Has me thinking 2 things:

Some intermittent issue outside either at an amp or node or intermittent noise being thrown back that is somehow evading detection by Comcast
Node might be oversold

jweaver Yeah, like swilliams said…send a mod message on reddit about it. You are not only helping yourself, but you are helping others on your node pointing out issues.

The current AI chat stuff is worthless. reddit actually gets you results.

If your line is clean then it is almost certainly a congested node. I’ve been beating that same drum but they won’t do anything until your plant is upgraded out of subsplit. It’s too costly to do a legacy node split. With RPHY they are able to address capacity by adding a second rpd.

It is still worth raising the flag with the official subreddit. They are very helpful and sometimes the squeaky wheel gets the grease
