HooRU Here in CT we are in a wind alert, you can hear it out there. And still snow and ice. More coming later in the week too, maybe a bigger storm. My brother is having a ball skiing. I don't ski. I used to skate though.
DrStrange HooRU Had fun outside when the wind came up. All the ice started raining out of the trees like a winter hailstorm. Has been up over 40MPH several times. Antennas hung from trees were a lot lower than they're supposed to be, but sprung back up once most of the ice blew away.
Astyanax HooRU HooRU Here in CT we are in a wind alert, you can hear it out there. And still snow and ice. More coming later in the week too, maybe a bigger storm. Remember, you'd rather live in CT than anywhere else. 😉
GeekGirl1 The high wind warning is in effect here in Philly. It's 30 deg here and the wind is howling with gusts over 40 mph. If I'm going to be miserable, I might as well do my taxes.
Guy54435 GeekGirl1 And I am sorry to say through the 21st not much will change in your area, Stay safe.
GeekGirl1 DrStrange I've been having intermittent power outages lasting for a few seconds. A few trees went down a mile or so from me. I'm fine.
Bink63 Looks like a Delta Flight got flipped after landing by the winds at Toronto's (CA) Pearson Airport... https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/canada/vo-delta-airlines-passenger-jet-flipped-on-landing-at-toronto-s-pearson-airport/vi-AA1zeG6Q
px_eliezer_ GeekGirl1 I've been having intermittent power outages lasting for a few seconds. A few trees went down a mile or so from me. I'm fine. Same here yesterday and today (more so yesterday) in Springsteen land. Lots of people did fully lose power last night.
HooRU Good luck GG1, be safe. If you have to go outside, avoid trees and don't walk under powerlines. But you already know this.
GeekGirl1 HooRU Yes, I do. I have trees on my property. No way do I ever go near them in heavy wind. Or thunderstorms.
HooRU Lots were without power in CT, two power lines down (at least 2) in my city, one just a bit ago. Fortunately, I have power.
DrStrange HooRU Lights blinked once and that was it. Probably, something happened up the hill from here. Have been busy the last few days. 'New' car on Tuesday, finally. Dealing with the backlog of things which were waiting for having a car again.
DrStrange Astyanax Wind sounds like a commuter train when it comes up. Not a big problem here. I just need to make sure there's something in the dumpsters so they don't do a waltz in the driveway.
Guy54435 Today's temperature is forecast to be WARMER than yesterday. Today Tue 02/18 High 9 °F Current Minus 12 F Wisconsin
HooRU I LOVE CT and I don't mind the Winter, but I'll see talk about it, that's what you do, talk about weather. No matter where you live, there are weather or other issues. Folks in FLA sometimes assume everyone else wants to be there. Nope.
GrumpyCanadian HooRU Folks in FLA sometimes assume everyone else wants to be there. Nope. No thanks! I'll take our 75cm of snow over four days over FL humidity and hurricanes any day of the year.
Beachie HooRU Folks in FLA sometimes assume everyone else wants to be there. Nope. We're just weary of 1000 people moving here every day (and so many without a job or a place to live lined up) thinking it's the land of milk and honey.
Splitpair GrumpyCanadian hurricanes any day of the year. We don't get hurricanes any day of the year just your area doesn't get hurricane force blizzards any day of the year. Comment removed by Moderator
HooRU I don't know anyone personally thinking it is the land of milk and honey, but plenty who think things are a mess there.
Beachie HooRU I don't know anyone personally thinking it is the land of milk and honey, but plenty who think things are a mess there. Things are rather messy all over and Florida isn't alone in that regard. I've lived in Florida 48 years now, through good times and bad and I intend to live out my life here in my little corner of paradise and work as I always have to try to make things better.
JRB-Ware HooRU Anecdotal and not representative. Florida is one of the top growth states attracting people. Connecticut not so much. https://yankeeinstitute.org/2022/03/20/cts-growing-problem-population-trends-in-the-constitution-state/
Sparkchaser HooRU A friend of mine, an old person, is moving back to CT from FLA, she's had enough. That would be me and I'm hating the cold 'cause I'm old. I could become an Irish citizen and relocate but as I said I'M OLD. 😉
