Speaking of cable TV shenanigans, I noticed something interesting while looking at Comcast’s plan builder this evening: they are now only promoting the TV Plus package. All of the other TV packages (e.g. TV Core and TV Premium) are no longer listed on the site for new or existing customers.

To be sure, the packages still exist in the system, and along with being listed on other Comcast pages they are still on the rate card as well. But Comcast is no longer making an effort to promote them or make them easily available to customers. Instead, they direct people to “Chat with us for more plan options.”
It is not all that significant in the big picture. But it is one more sign of what direction cable TV services are heading.
On the plus side, the drop in cable TV customers means that Comcast seems to actually be gaining leverage over the local broadcast affiliates. The Broadcast TV Fee for old plans has actually dropped by nearly $5 over the last few months. Which, of course, Comcast gets to pocket with the newer fee-free plans.😂
