Looks like someone photoshopped low yield Si solar cells over top of some Merc electric thing. I mean who needs to see out the windscreen when you drive, I guess the paint is also 100% transparent as well as 20% efficient too even when its on the sides of the car which never get direct light.
Reminds me of the joke about the guy that put in energy saving spark plugs, oil, an air filter, and other tech but found his gas tank would overflow just a few miles down the road because of the net gain of all those fuel saving devices somehow became a positive result.
Solar roads made more sense and that was a bust, there is more surface area and most of it at least is facing up whereas only 1/3 of a car body (or less) would get direct sunlight. I do not buy the green promise that a spray on tan solar cell is entirely recyclable and non-toxic and yet free of one of the few materials that produce a photoelectric effect. If this worked it would be more logical to paint your roof with it, more surface area and most of it is pointed upwards in the general direction of the sun. The greatest impact would be to remove two wheels, cut back on the mass of the thing and add pedals just to give the driver something to do, and throw in a solar parasol that can be deployed when the bike is not in use.
