While we wait for the announcement that N+X deployment has officially begun... Unified is the new version of FDX that has downstream going all the way to 1.8 GHz (currently limited by old taps). The return still stops at 684 MHz. Comcast has presented this spectrum layout to begin with: This is sufficient to offer symmetrical 2 Gbps. When more of the legacy channels go away, higher speeds can be offered. 3.1 modems that get FDX-L (limited) firmware can use the FDX channels.

Your comment here has come to play. In a certain area of town according to the outage map, there’s a recent upgrade in play that has had issues damn near daily. Network damage, impaired, etc. I’m thinking temps have something to do with it. High 30s at the lowest so far. I’d hate to live in that section. They’ve probably hit their quote of credits for all this too.

i was just browsing business class internet at my address for giggles, and im not sure when it got changed but it looks like they offer symmetrical business tiers now.

videomatic3 Setup for that was installing a XD4 modem, and connecting it to the CBR2 Business Gateway via Ethernet. The CBR2 will be running in Ethernet WAN mode instead of DOCSIS.

For Comcast Business Phone service, battery backup is required by law. From the incoming cable drop, add a 1.2 GHz capable splitter. One cable will run to the XD4, and another to a CBR1 that will have a internal battery installed and be used exclusively for VoIP service. In the event of a power failure, the customer can still dial out and receive calls.

videomatic3 The CBR2 has two 2.5 Gbps Ethernet ports. You can also connect a router or computer directly to the XD4.

hex0101 yes we haven a site getting around 1500 down on a cbr2 with the 2.5gbe port. Its 1200/35 service, tests closer to 1500/42.

They need to come out with CBR3 or maybe just call it a CBR4 (for docsis 4.0).

Here’s an FDX lid at the red light leaving Wawa in Douglassville PA. (Gas was 2.99 - 2.84 with app points).

The system here is maybe a year old. Brand new overbuild. The MB120 that existed here before barely got any life out of it. There’s fiber here too from both Windstream and SECV, so maybe that accelerated the quick mid split swap out.

These days the equipment on the strand doesn’t appear like it’s going to sit there for 20-30 years like last generation’s cable plant.

Aceq2jot to the untrained eye, these new fdx amps look a lot like nodes.

cypherstream We have Huge white nodes hanging. Not all of the connections have been made on them yet. As if I look at the nodes over by 3M’s Nationwide Headquarters over by beaver lake they have all the connections made to all the places to hook up and then they have something attached so they can hook two lines to them. I will post pics when i get a chance.

The nodes don’t require all the ports occupied to be in operation. They just need two, one fiber and one coax.

MacLeech Can’t wait for my node split. Current 1×2 node segmentation will be going to 2×4, and the project involves dropping in two more 1×2 nodes deeper in the neighborhood.

MacLeech Thank you. The node I have on my feed at the end of the block one alley over has some of the connection ports connected and then as I said the ones over by 3M have all the ports in use.

@“cypherstream” Here is the node that feeds my house and the new amp just down the block from it. There are also a lot of Small new Square Amps that are smaller in the area. The amp that is on my line I believe will get replaced soon. There is a connector before the Tap on that line that has two lines running into it. The new Amps are pretty easy to spot as they are bright and then what i would guess are cooling fins like a two stroke are angled.

I spotted FDX amps in San Francisco today along Geneva between Mission and Moscow. Not sure if this was subsplit before or not but large swaths of the city are still on old gear.
