While we wait for the announcement that N+X deployment has officially begun... Unified is the new version of FDX that has downstream going all the way to 1.8 GHz (currently limited by old taps). The return still stops at 684 MHz. Comcast has presented this spectrum layout to begin with: This is sufficient to offer symmetrical 2 Gbps. When more of the legacy channels go away, higher speeds can be offered. 3.1 modems that get FDX-L (limited) firmware can use the FDX channels.

Man-of-Leisure I don’t know about your parents situation obviously but when we got Verizon FiOS they used a vibrating plow and direct bury fiber cable. You had to look carefully to see where they ran the cable and after a couple months and some rain it disappeared completely. Of course when they ran the fiber between the underground vaults they did it in I think February.

Verizon Planning guys: I know! Lets do this in the middle of winter when the ground is frozen as hard as it’s going to get!

I remember guys (contractors, not Verizon guys) out there with digging bars chipping away at the frozen ground. Of course a month or two later it was all thawed.

time to go into the store to see if they have any modems available… now to decide on what tier…

also want to note a neighbor that doesnt have fdx available has different speed tiers now too…

so they kinda got rid of the extra upload on some tiers.
i might just go with the 2 gig symmetrical for 115 60 months. no contract anyways, can always change it. i think 500/500 would be good enough.

videomatic3 Grats on the FDX, but if that pricing chart is correct it’s really disappointing they are regressing to the promo game. I thought all the info was pointing to them doing away with all that nonsense with D4.0, but I guess it’s not that surprising TBH.

feeling sketchy about the sign up process… LOL maybe ill try calling.
why it says 35mbps upload i have no idea. and im also noticing the XI/XV leased gateway which is 11 or 15? theres also the professional install. i just went ahead and checked all the boxes and submitted.

Anything over X-300 will need to be installed by a technician. I’m interested to see if he can get his hands on an XB10.

Yea this is listening to customers and transparent simple pricing structure to comcast sigh. I was finally given the option to select 5 year pricing in mid splits area, was only allowed to upgrade from 1gb to 2gb plan to lock in that price, and at the end of the process i can see in my account says the ‘contract’ price will expire in 5 years. Its the same game just pricing more aggressively in the near term because they are losing customers so fast their head is spinning.

Greed will be the downfall of this company…

videomatic3 please if you can give us a review and technical deep dive. Nobody on these types of forums has had this available that’s willing to answer all the technical questions.

Like what modem do you get… pictures? Does it have diagnostic pages? Screenshots? Speedtests, traceroutes, pings, and bufferbloat tests.

Professional install is required at first so if you go through with it, please explain your experience with the tech. Look closely at what kind of testing they do. What meter they use, etc…

ill be disappointed as hell if we are required to use an xb8 alongside with the xb10, bypassing that will be a must. guess ill find out.

If you can acquire the XB10, you won’t need the XB8. That arrangement only applies if they give you the XD4.

videomatic3 the xb8 is included, just go with the flow and when they leave feel free to experement. Someone on Reddit claimed it worked fine going right to their Ubiquiti UDM Pro.

satyr i called up, the rep put in a ticket to have the 2000/35 fixed, changed my install date to an earlier time because why not, and told me the XI/XV leased gateway stands for 10 internet / 10 voice. so id assume id get an xb10, and then just bridge mode it, and disable guest gateway.

No offense if there are any here, and I’m sure there’s lots of smart techs too, but a lot of techs have extremely limited knowledge lol

Most of the time, the “professional install” is just screwing in some coax cables and making sure it’s working before they leave lol

I had a tech take one look at my TP-Link Wi-Fi 6 access point and tell me “oh, those things are no good. You really should rent one of our routers.” lol

videomatic3 please share screenshots of the admin ui, but I assume they’ll design the firmware to look the same as CBR1/2/XB6/⅞ so the bridged mode button is likely in the same spot.

Really interested to see what signal diagnostics look like.

this is going to turn into a disaster. i ordered for the wrong address. for some reason theres 2 addresses linked to my account and i have no idea how to remove an address, and i also have no idea why it went to the wrong house when i clicked on change speed. maybe ill just have to go into the comcast store tomorrow and have them deal with it.

The question, of course, is what address did the offer for X-Class use for validation/verification.

I am going to guess that no matter which CSR gets randomly chosen for you as you walk in the door is going to need to escalate to their supervisor (your issues do not sound like they are part of the normal training).

CommunityMember I always punch in the neighbors address that doesn’t have comcast. Easier to find promotional pricing. Reddit solved everything this morning at 4am. They are great.
