Active Fiber Deploy Work in CT?

Has anyone seen crews actively working in CT? Do they work in the winter?

They do work in Winter, I've seen it, and in the summer last year I got 5 people connected. I didn't do it in a way to get the bounty though.

I hope they keep up building but with the Verizon Sale, I wonder.

I haven’t seen activity other than possibly hallucinating that I saw a Frontier truck drive through here the other day. Now today I get two e-mails saying fiber is coming. Well, I also got those two years ago. So who knows. It is prime weather around here for doing outside work. Fiber is 2000 feet away but my road is 1250 feet. Underground but with conduit already in place (already carries copper).

I guess we find out in a few months.

Contact Frontier Corporate. Nick Jefferies, he’s the big shot. I’ve contacted his office and gotten great results. I get the impression that buildout has slowed since Verizon is taking over. I hope I’m wrong.

Also, keep an eye out for GoNetSpeed, they do fiber and are pretty good.

I spotted a crew working a town over. Slowly closing the hole around me. Contractors so hope they are contracted to fill the entire hole

Why are you asking me if it’s been deployed in certain towns? Just use the fcc map.

The Fcc maps have not been updated in long time. I believe the last updates we will see for a while took place in 2024.

Harmony If ‘a long time’ to you is <15 days then I guess that’s true.

Last update was a few days ago (late May) and has data as of Dec 2024. That’s better than anything else I’ve seen. It’s understandable that this is designed to be lagging behind reality as providers are responsible for submitting data, some magic happens and you get maps that are six months old. Okay. It was winter here. Nothing happened as far as build outs around here (my town and immediate surrounding towns) during that time. Sometimes I even have my wife drive so I can concentrate on fiber spotting. The map is pretty darn accurate reflecting what reality was six months ago. If you have a better source that is more accurate and is public, please do share.

The recent May 2025 map published has data from December 2024, as designed. I guess 6 months is “a long time” for some.

The data is submitted twice a year (December and June) while maps are published twice a year (May and November). December submittals are published in May. June submittals are published in November.
