Discussion.
A very strong low pressure system swept across Ontario from December
28th to December 29th. This system brought significant freezing
rain, rain, and wind to southern Ontario, while northeastern Ontario
saw significant snowfall with blizzard-like conditions. There were
numerous power outages and road closures reported with the freezing
rain. Lake effect snow squalls have developed in the wake of the
system, with heavy snow and blizzard-like conditions occurring for
areas southeast of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay. This event is still
ongoing and this summary may be updated as more information becomes
available.
