Some improvements have been made to the News tag and its sub tags to make it easier to browse the News section of BBF. The News tag is now a placeholder to aggregate all the sub tags of News. This way you can choose to see all news articles, or just those of a specific sub tag. Remember you can add any of these tags to your follow list.
Due to a software limitation, you can still post to News only, but you should pick a sub tag to help us stay organized. Moderators have been instructed to re-tag discussions as necessary.
Thank you for your feedback
Thank you to everyone who has publicly commented or reached out privately to me about news article sharing. I recognize that there are some people upset with these changes. I have decided to continue with this new arrangement with the slight adjustments we have made since the first announcement.
Even if you feel unsure or disoriented by this change, I hope everyone will grow to accept these changes as our community evolves.
If you haven’t already commented, you can reach out to me privately with any new questions you may have. The prior announcement is here.
Sharing of News Articles
Provider news articles will continue to be shared in the tag specific to that provider, or if no provider tag is available, the tag related to the technology used by the provider. For example, sharing news articles about Service Electric Cablevision, goes in the Cable Users tag. News articles about VoIP.ms goes in the VOIP Tech Chat tag. Netflix news goes in [Cut the Cord](Cut the Cord). Verizon News goes in Verizon.
All other news article sharing is in a sub tag of News. Discussions in this tag are excluded from the all view, but can be accessed by the News link in the sidebar and the top menu.
The News tag is only for the sharing of news articles that don’t belong elsewhere. Announcements, emails, and notices are not news articles, so they don’t go in the News tag.
Thank you again for being the best part of BBF.
