"Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the theft of 100,000 eggs from a Franklin County processor.
The eggs were stolen Saturday evening from Pete and Gerry's Organic Eggs in Antrim Township near Greencastle. State police say the eggs were taken from the rear of a distribution trailer.
"That's crazy — a hundred thousand eggs. Don't know what someone would do with a hundred thousand eggs," said Skyler Rivera, who works across the street.
The eggs are valued at $40,000. The theft comes at a time when egg prices are very high due to an avian flu outbreak".

From what I understand it was bird flu that cause the price of eggs to go back up. I get what you are saying. However, I am going to keep this politic free.

That's a good amount of eggs. I guess we are going to be seeing eggs being sold on the black market now.

To be fair, bird flu has has had the price up for months.

Eggs are needed in many dishes, pancakes use them and I want pancakes.

I have 4 eggs left, I'll have to make them last.

I feel badly for the poor birds.

I've seen less birds lately out there.

Yes. My sis has seen dying birds and the population seems down. Just a few weeks ago there were tons of birds here, and I only saw one today.

I just bought 3 dz for $3.99/18ct ($2.66/dz, $0.22 each) with a Kroger Weekly Special (I could have bought up to 7.5dz but who needs that many?) Not too long ago they had specials of $0.99/dz and occasionally 1 dz for free.

They are $5.46 at Walmart but that is 20 miles away so I bought them at the Mennonite store 3 miles away, Which is always a little higher anyhow because they are cage free range non Gmo yada yada yada.

Are you aware that certain birds migrate south for the winter? Where are you? You are probably up north and that would explain fewer birds.

HooRU I agree. One of the neighbours puts out seeds (even though that was discouraged, especially without adequate disinfection). In years past, the birds would arrive in groups, almost fighting each other to get a chance at the feeder, and the thing would be empty in a few hours or less. Now, one fill lasts days, and there aren't as many chickadees around at all.

Year-'round birds keep mosquitoes (& other pests) down ( like fair-weather barn swallows do ).
This affects disease transmission.

GrumpyCanadian Trucks in and out of that area day and night. Unless someone was in that building at the time no body would have batted an eye.
