[DVR] Motorola 7232 being phased out

During the season I'd occasionally tune to a channel to watch an NFL game and see the prompt to watch in (upconverted) 4k.
It didn't happen often. And it didn't look much better than the regular broadcast.
Hopefully that changes.

Thanks for the drive info.

If the TV One works with the G1100 then I am not sure why Verizon would send me a G3100.
Maybe a G3100 or later is needed for NETFLIX (I don't have it) support, the only streaming service that the box supports?

Other people who have the TV+ boxes said that they were unable to activate them using the G1100 router.

The TV+ equipment does not work with the G1100 router.

I was a bit disappointed when I found out.

Ok seriously - it took perhaps 10 minutes or less for all 425 files downloaded and then it was ready to customize.
Audio Compression - I set it for "Light" - anyone have any other ideas? I know what it is supposed to do in theory but I figured setting it to light would not "flatten" the entire audio in a movie (for Example).

Simultaneous recording: Does it really have 6 QAM tuners which is 4 more than the old DVR?

So has anyone who replaced their DVR actually returned it to Verizon? I have mine in the garage now because I was told to just recycle it and it is not necessary to return it.
The online web portal (terrible web integration with their systems) says there is a fee for non return of equipment and was a general statement, not aimed at me.
I may just send it back since it is free since I can just as easily put it in a box and send it back as opposed to taking it somewhere to recycle it.
Am I being too ""honest" or ........ ?

I was getting a popup on the Verizon website about the fee for un-returned equipment, but since the letter said I could keep it, recycle it, or send it back, I didn't bother with the popup. I don't get the popup now.

The old equipment is yours now, but it's also basically e-waste.

That is going to be my approach also. I don't want to keep it lying around since I am purging the garage of junk. When the weather gets warmer out and I feel industrious, I will do something with it.....lol

I'm doing pretty much the same. I have 3 Motorola QIP 7100 boxes sitting in my basement with some other old electronics.
Sometime in the near future I'll take it all to an e-waste disposal site run by the city sanitation department.
Basically what's most convenient for me. 🙂

Yes, I live in Suffolk County and my town holds 3 or 4 recycling events a year beginning in April. I always find stuff to take there and the DVR will be one of the items, thank you for reminding me.....lol

Family member who lives near us has her own personal fios account. She has a QIP 7100 2 Set top box, not a DVR.
I wonder what "box" she will have to get because her account (which I pay on her behalf) is saying that she has to replace her box soon.

If it is either the VMS4100P2 (QAM) (HDMI) or the newer VMS4100ATV (IP) (Server no HDMI), they both come with a 1TB hard drive. If there is no DVR service, it just isn't activated. It can be activated anytime.

I currently have the 4100P2 and do not have DVR service, but in the system specs of the box itself, it lists it as having the Toshiba MQ01ABD100V 1TB hdd. And, I am given a menu option to add DVR service.

PL1 Thanks - this makes me feel better because she is in assisted living and has many personality traits that could derail her if her TV stopped working. I will call Verizon armed with that info and hopefully it will go as smoothly as my DVR replacement went.

I have the TV+ setup (VMS4100atv) and there's a menu option in there to add DVR service.

DWDM You should definitely ask for the TV One equipment.
It's the closest thing they offer to the old Motorola boxes.

Rook Exactly, and since I personally just went through it myself, I feel confident that the functionality is almost identical to her older set top box.
I'll call them during the week and have it shipped to the facility which is her address on the bill. They will contact me when it arrives.

DWDM Mother in law upgrade to VMS4100 (Fios one) went without an issue and it did have a menu that said “upgrade to DVR service” which I ignored. The setup went very quickly and I got them to write off the Router monthly charge they were trying to impose so in the end - It worked out well and my Mother in law even commented that the picture is much clearer.
