Having read the many complaints about the TV+ boxes from the now gone dslreports.com forum, I am glad that a Fios TV One migration package was sent to me instead of the TV+'s.
Received one Video Media Server and two mini boxes.
Setup was plug and play with the coax cable.
It is great that the old remotes from the Motorola boxes still work as is. No re-programming needed.
Don't like the idea of having to pay Verizon extra money for the privilege of being able to use my existing IR remotes.
Reading some online docs, it states that the TV One has Wi-Fi capability too.
Haven't tried it though, don't want to mess with what is working.
Anybody tried setting up their TV One boxes this way? Working better or worse than TV+?
Obviously, the TV One boxes will not support the various streaming services that you can get on the TV+ boxes.
What is the capacity of the DVR storage?
How big is the hard drive?
How many hours of HD video can be saved to it?
Got a Fios router (G3100) too. The TV One boxes do not work with Verizon's older model routers.
This was the first and hardest thing to setup because I was not able to use the saved configuration file of the previous model router. Had to manually re-enter the configuration from scratch using printouts of the old one.
Did anybody get a Verizon router (CR1000) instead?
What are the differences between these two newest model routers?
Glad I don't have to lug the old Motorola boxes to the nearest UPS store in the cold weather to do a return.
Will use them as door stops for the time being.
I may want to re-purpose the old router as an additional Wi-Fi access point.
The STB transition is going very well so far.
Just hope my next bill is not screwed up!
