Hate to bring this back up, but still running into this issue, even after uninstalling and reinstalling OpenRGB and the Hardware Sync plugin accordingly.
Positive is: Hardware Sync Plugin on Linux will actually let me see the temp (and voltage?) sensors from hardware, particularly the CPU and GPU sensors I was hoping to base the programming/color adaptation around.
Bad news? It won’t see the motherboard to talk to, at all. It will ONLY interface with the RGB on the memory sticks.
Motherboard is an MSI z390 gaming plus, for all that matters.
It’s bad because, if I can’t interface with the motherboard, I can’t control the lighting for ANY of the attached fans. Which, ostensibly, are more visible than the system memory installed.
The other quandary I’m running into, in the name of customization…
At least on Windows, it was easy enough to just have a wav file of the respective pokemon cry to auto-play for the startup sound (Thank you, WinAeroTweaker). however, I can’t seem to do that at all. Sounds selector lets me select the wav, but refuses to play it. Even tried converting the wav to oga since I noticed all the working system sounds are that, but it still refuses to even let me select it. The dialog to pick the file just insists it doesn’t exist, even when I did open it up to play for sanity checking reasons.
It might seem dumb for some of you reading this, but, this matters and I didn’t have nearly this much problem enabling this kind of thing on Windows. I can’t possibly be the only person out of 8 billion people on the globe that tried to do this on Linux.
