It's funny how many of us old farts already got an avatar uploaded. Seems we all want to make this work. We just need Cloneman for his crazy posts and HiVolt to add to the colourful mix.

bbbc I had to dig in my google photos - My avatar is a sunset picture taken from the dock of my cottage in 2002 - I used it when I signed up in 2003. I have all my old digital pics going back to my first digital camera in '97 on my google photos -- so - I knew I could find it if I dug deep through 115,000 pictures.
It's so nice to stop trying to refresh the DSL site on my phone every time I picked it up 😉

Hydraglass I had to go dig it up from one my old USER directories from an archived windows install. Took me a while to find it, but I got to dig up a bunch of other stuff in the meantime. I tried search the file by name from my main directory after and the Nemo search bar found it in a matter or seconds.

bbbc I think pound signs are board op related (I see in our replies they include a hash tag followed by number for example) - out of curiousity I wonder if even without code blocks, there's escape codes - I don't want to get into experimenting on this thread with quotes, brackets, ampersands, and all the other usual suspects, I might go read the docs for the board software and see if I can find some hints.

AppleGuy for me, BB seemed biased with his selection of deleting posts or threads for being "off topic" or "political" (when in CanChat). The bias was there also in CanPol, as leeway was given to some and not others. Not sure if you could call it heavy handed, of course, as very few posters were ever disciplined for real.

It's pretty much why I quit.

Well this certainly came together quickly, with many familiar names already here. For me, new forum, new name.

I actually wanted to ask what we might do if the lights ever went out for good at the old forum. I thought it was a bad sign when they officially announced that all of the direct forums were going away. I guess this is the answer. So, does anyone think the zombie may yet live?

I really hope people like En Enfer come back as well.
I also hope that if there's anyone with access to the original DSLR website can pull a copy and put one up as read only. There was a goldmine of info.
