In Suits LA, Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor from New York, has reinvented himself representing the most powerful clients in Los Angeles. His firm is at a crisis point, and in order to survive he must embrace a role he held in contempt his entire career. Ted is surrounded by a stellar group of characters who test their loyalties to both Ted and each other while they can’t help but mix their personal and professional lives. All of this is going on while events from years ago slowly unravel that led Ted to leave behind everything and everyone he loved.

Never watched the original, ill get to it some time.

I loved the original show, it was actually my favorite show. I'm looking forward to this one. The later seasons of the original series started to go downhill and loose what made the earlier seasons great, and there were a few things I didn't like (like Mike leaving, them brining in Samantha Wheeler and Alex Williams, and also them not bringing Jessica back for Mike, and Louis' weddings), but overall it still ranks of one of my all time favorite shows.

Thank goodness Stephen Amell finally got rid of that perma-scruff. Now if only Tyler Hoechlin could also do the same.😂

Yep. Looking forward to it. The only thing I hate with premier is that I'm really looking forward to, is that it's only one episode and it leaves me chanting at the bit wanting so much more. 😩

I found the first 'Suits' un-watchable. Too much power arrogance and misogyny. Bad acting too. It will probably carry over to this iteration.

I remember enjoying the original at first. I'm not sure if it changed, or I did. But the dialogue in the show eventually just became "Because I'm Harvey Specter!" and "Because I'm Donna".

Agree. It seemed like they were trying to do too much with subplots.

It was interesting seeing John Amos (who passed away in August) playing himself. That would have been his last TV role, RIP.

Ya just too much thrown at you for the pilot......definitely not what I expected.....not sure about the Donna wanna-be secretary and the autistic brother/room-mate.....just seems off somehow.

The brother isn't really there; he's dead. He was just in Ted's mind. Took me a bit to figure that out at the end of the episode as well. I hope they don't stick with that. Honestly, it felt completely unnecessary and kind of stupid for the series premier. They need to try to capture the Harvey/Mike dynamic somehow, but in their own way.

Also, we need Donna's sassiness somehow in the show.

Yeah, it was a waste of screen time. Could have been better used on the dynamics of the law firm, and the murder case.

The original Suits had three things going for it - drama, humour, and intrigue with Mike's secret; This Suits LA only has the drama. The original suits had really clever writing with some good zingers that made me "lol!" up until about half way through season 2 and after which it became more like a soap opera. This iteration of suits feels like that soap opera.

Also Stephen Amell has bad hair styling.

I'll watch the next episode to see how this goes but there wasn't any 'fun' in the first episode.

Exactly. The whole thing with Mike bluffing his way into a job with Harvey in the first episode of Suits was epic. Many new shows have to find their footing when they first start up. Suits was solidly on the rails at its start. Not getting that from Suits LA so far.

I wouldn't say it perfectly sums it up as I'm pretty sure I nailed it but it does offer up a point that falls under the umbrella of 'clever writing' in that they don't seem to have it.

As the article suggests, we were simply thrusted us into a situation with all these characters who've had all their long standing issues whereas the original Suits provided us a protagonist who was 'fresh' in the legal world, someone we could latch on to, to carry us through the story.

This situation could have worked for us if we had more jokes segueing us into the situation but unfortunately that's not what happened.
