Comcast website slow, oh so slow?

OK, I signed up for paperless with Comcast.

The result seems to be I have to visit the Comcast website to download a copy of my monthly bill.

But when I visit the website, as I did twice today, I am greeted with _this is taking longer than we expected~ and _unable to access My Account~ error messages.

Why cannot Comcast seem to put up a responsive website for its customers?

It is slow even when trying to load speed tiers for a given address. Loading….. Error! Ok, Retry. And then it loaded the content quickly that time (within 10 seconds).

The website’s speed has never been great, but it has been way slower recently. DDoS/bot activity?

plat2on1 Ive had better luck with the app compared to the website. Though I do run ad blockers so that could be why.

A lot of ISP’s have terrible websites speed and reliability wise. Which is ironic when you think about it. I feel like the cause is due to extra bloat, or multiple back-end systems that have all just been tied together over the years.

Lol, yea there website is garbage. Comcast’s site doesn’t like AD Blockers running. Also if your using Firefox, you need to make sure this is unchecked in privacy setting. Otherwise there webpage won’t display stuff correctly.

I just press F5 when that happens then the page loads correctly.

Main Site slow for Me, and also Xfinity stream very very slow loading on Desktop PC for some reason, will have to try the stream site tomorrow on secondary Gaming laptop in morning

My vendor, Comcast, seems intentionally to slow down its website because of a privacy setting in my browser?
OK, if there is a Comcast employee here, why is this a good business practice towards customers?

Yeah, that was my first thought.

So I went over to MS Edge which runs with no add-ons.

I saw the same slowness.

I also saw a lot (A LOT!) of network activity while those three dots were blinking in the circle.

What is Comcast trying to gather from my PC?

And, after a while, even with Edge, I saw the message, this is taking longewr than we expected~.

So Comcast seems to admit their website is gawd-awful slow.

To the point they have an error message for it.

An error message I see frequently.

I highly doubt it’s intentional. It’s mostly like a cobbled mess of legacy software that has been extended with newer stuff. It’s like a facelift changing the outside, but inside is a mess of plumbing.

Bunch of backend systems from various different time periods just sitting on top of each other.

Xfinity app works way better than the website.

lesmikesell Used to be “TCI”, at least in my area. Then I wanna say it changed to Comcast in the early 2000’s. TCI cable!

In 1999, AT&T acquired TCI. AT&T then sold off its cable assets, and Comcast acquired the remaining TCI cable systems in 2002.

Our area was Frederick Cablevision -> then GS Communications (Great southern?) -> acquired by Adelphia in 2000 -> then Comcast in 2006 when Adelphia closed down.

Yeah, but there is less advertising BS and fluff, so it does feel marginally faster. Having worked for a different telco in the deep dark before times (GTE/Verizon) I agree that Xfinity probably has multiple layers of legacy systems glued together with crap code written by interns. Probably documented as:
